#1 Curriculum Programme Coordinator

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Plans, coordinates and directs the design, development, implementation and evaluation of curricula according to the national curriculum guide for all ECCE Centres under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Education.
Advises ECCE Curriculum Facilitators with regards to curricula, and the implementation of the same at ECCE Centres.
Coordinates and supervises the activities of ECCE Curriculum Facilitators, administrators and teachers in different districts engaged in planning and evaluating school curricula and work related thereto.
Coordinates the examination and analysis of trends and projections in the field of Curriculum and national development, in order to determine training needs and appropriate curriculum development.
Participates in and assists with the conduct of professionals development sessions for ECCE Curriculum Facilitators, administrators, teachers and others.
Sits on committees and works with ECCE Specialist on committees responsible for the assessment of qualifications or persons seeking employment in the ECCE sub-sector.
Liaises with other departments and staff within the Ministry on matters related to curriculum development.
Advises the Ministry of Education on the acquisition of books and other educational material and equipment for use at educational institutions.
Serves on various committees related to curriculum (ECCE) participates in meetings and submits reports thereon to reporting officer.
Perform related work as may be required.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Extensive knowledge of the principles and techniques of curriculum.
Considerable knowledge of modern educational theories, practices and teaching techniques.
Considerable knowledge of the education system of Trinidad and Tobago.
Considerable knowledge in the field of curriculum development, implementation and delivery.
A thorough understanding of the National ECCE Curriculum Guide.
Knowledge of descriptive and inferential statistics.
Ability to grasp and analyse problems in administering the ECCE Curriculum.
Ability to plan and execute ECCE teaching programmes.
Ability to conduct research and investigational surveys and to prepare comprehensive reports on findings.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with and among staff engaged in curriculum work.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Extensive experience in curriculum development and training as evidenced by the possession of an approved master’s degree in ECCE (with Curriculum components) supplemented by a postgraduate Diploma in Education.

Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

#2 Quality Assurance Coordinator

JOB SUMMARY

The incumbent assists in the provision of a quality assurance system at both the public and private ECCE level. Additionally, the Quality Assurance Coordinator will be required to coordinate Early Childhood Care and Education programmes in compliance with specified national standards as outlined in The National Standards Governing ECCE practice document.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Supervises and directs public and private ECCE Centre personnel on standards required for providing ECCE services.
Develops methods to regulate ECCE policies, procedures and programmes related to quality management.
Develops monitoring, compliance reviews and/or quality assurance techniques for measuring the quality of service delivery to ensure maximum efficiency.
Develops and protocols and procedures to resolve emergency problems and crisis situations
Identifies improvements and adjustments needed to facilitate programme effectiveness to meet the required ECCE National Standards.
Provides advice and support to management or other stakeholder groups on issues related to quality assurance and quality control.
Regularly monitors and reviews information from materials, events, or the environment to diagnose ECCE problems.
Serves on various committees to promote Early Childhood Care and Education.
Assists in the processing of applications for the establishment of ECCE Centres.
Provides recommendations for registration of ECCE Centres.
Conducts relevant workshops and special conferences.
Receives and collate reports on a quarterly basis on the progress of activities.
Performs all other related work as may be required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Considerable Knowledge of the National Standards for Regulating Early Childhood Services Document.
Considerable Knowledge of continuing trends in ECCE.
Sound Knowledge of quality management and control
Sound knowledge of standards and principles of conducting inspections
Sound knowledge of OHS policies and procedures
Ability to conduct seminars/workshops.
Ability to evaluate and promote Early Childhood Care and Education
Ability to plan programmes for monitoring and assessing quality standards
Record Keeping and Organizational skills.
Ability to exercise sound judgement and objectivity.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Master’s Degree
Certificate in Education-ECCE
Four (4) to six (6) years’ experience in the field of ECCE at an administrative level

#3 Family/Community Support Coordinator

JOB SUMMARY

The Family/Community Support Coordinator reports to the Assistant Director/Director of the ECCE Division. The Family/Community Support Coordinator is responsible for planning, managing and evaluating family and community support services within (assigned) educational districts.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Monitors and supervises the implementation of family community support activities within educational districts.
Develops programmes to encourage and support family/community participation in the field of ECCE.
Supports the work of family community support officers through supervision training and the provision of resource material.
Participates in meetings, workshops and other sessions to identify and generate solutions to problems which may arise in implementing family community support activities.
Acts as liaison providing and exchanging information to Ministry of Education official, non-governmental organizations and other stakeholders.
Evaluate the overall implementation of family community support activities and plans for and makes revisions as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Master’s degree from an accredited University.
(Components in guidance and counselling social work will be an asset)
Considerable knowledge and experience in the field of ECCE.
A thorough understanding of the education system in Trinidad and Tobago with specific reference to ECCE.

Identifies problems/weaknesses in the delivery and implementation of ECCE Services.
Guides teachers with respect to teaching strategies, methodologies and techniques.
Gives demonstration lessons.
Assists teachers with their preparation of activity plans and instructional materials.
Identifies individual needs of children and ECCE Centre Staff and suggests how these needs can best be met, e.g. through Centre-based/teacher collaboration.
Monitors/supervises implementation of the curriculum guide by teachers and their assistants.
Assists the Administrator and teachers in developing appropriate measurement and evaluation techniques.
Assists ECCE Curriculum Coordinators, School Supervisors, Curriculum Officers and other Ministry of Education personnel in conducting Team Visits to ECCE Centres and Primary Schools.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s Degree ECCE.
Experience in ECCE Curriculum Planning and Implementation.
Experience as an ECCE Curriculum Facilitator or equivalent.
Trinidad and Tobago Teacher’s Diploma with elective ECCE will be an asset.

Makes recommendations for registration of ECCE Centres.
Attends relevant workshops and special conferences.
Prepares reports on a quarterly basis on the progress of activities.
Performs all other related work as may be required.

#6 District ECCE Family/Community Support Officer

JOB SUMMARY:

An employee in this position is responsible for the promotion of ECCE projects in community groups and committees. The Family/Community Support Officers report to the Family/Community Coordinator, ECCE Division and is responsible for Family/Community support at District level.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Advises groups and committees on the benefits of ECCE.
Liaises with voluntary organizations and charitable agencies to obtain assistance for projects.
Monitors the development of ECCE Family/Community projects and supervises the operations of such projects at ECCE Centres.
Promotes the formation of parent (and other) groups, guides their operations and disseminates information regarding ECCE.
Assists in the execution of programmes for training family/community members, by arranging courses and workshop activities.
Ensures the procurement of materials and supplies for use at family/community workshops, courses, etc.
Prepares reports on visits to Centres and groups and on meetings attended.
Receives complaints and requests from members of families/community and forwards same to relevant authorities as prescribed at ECCE Division/National Council for ECCE.
Performs related work as may be required.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Five (5) CXC/GCE O Level passes including English Language and Mathematics. Social Studies will be an asset.
Experience in community work.
Certification in social work or related field and/or equivalent combination of experience and training.
