Financial Accountant – Assets & Inventory
MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB:
The ideal candidate must be mature, logical, dedicated and committed to developing a high-performing finance department within a fast-paced, collaborative, team-oriented environment. Attention to detail, accuracy, consistency and confidentiality are extremely important.
The incumbent will be responsible for updating job knowledge and professional qualifications by keeping current with financial regulations and accepted practices; participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; and maintaining continuing education requirements of the relevant professional qualifications.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- The Financial Accountant – Assets & Inventory plays a critical role in ensuring the Group complies with IAS 16 Property, Plant and Equipment and IAS 2 Inventories and implement appropriate internal and quality control systems, detailed record-keeping, accurate processing and analysis.
- Ensures the accuracy and timely postings of entries in the correct period and recommend improvements as required by SAP best practice and help to resolve Assets and Inventory issues through the appropriate choice of error detection and correction.
- Coordinates monthly, quarterly and annual stock counts for all warehouses and working with inventory managers and warehouse custodians.
- Evaluation of inventory count variance explanations, investigation and analysis as required to ensure completeness and accuracy of the inventory balance and all related provisions.
- Assists the organization with reviewing and processing additions, disposals and assets under construction transfers of fixed assets on a timely basis and ensuring the compliance with accounting standards.
- Working as an integral member of the Finance team the Financial Accountant – Assets & Inventory will ensure the accuracy and completeness of monthly depreciation expense and prepare the fixed asset registers and schedules monthly by the due dates.
- The role includes supporting both internal and external customers, inclusive of coordinating with accounts receivables, accounts payables, warehousing and deliveries, Shipping, Solera retail stores, management accounting and vendors.
- The Financial Accountant – Assets & Inventory will also ensure adherence to policies, procedures and relevant regulatory compliance.
- Coordinate the Land and Building revaluation process with the approved valuator and ensure entries are posted accurately.
- The incumbent will also assist in the preparation and timely submission of monthly bank reconciliations, balance sheet schedules and other month end reports and ensure relevant deadlines are met.
- The role will also maintain an efficient and accurate filing system (hard and soft copy) for easy retrieval and review by internal and external auditors.
- The role will also be actively involved in the monthly close process by ensuring all month end activities are completed as per deadline to meet all statutory and regulatory filing deadlines and requirements.
- As part of a dynamic finance team the incumbent will prepare for and assist with internal and external audits, Stock counts, SAP training for staff members and overall system improvement projects and ensure these are completed by the required deadlines.
- Assists in the preparation of year-end Financial Statements and notes for both stand-alone and consolidated reporting in accordance with international accounting standards.
- Other duties relating to the function as required to support the Finance Department.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- ACCA qualified or similar qualifications.
- 3 to 5 years of experience working in a similar SAP environment.
- High standard of professionalism and integrity as this position requires strict confidentiality and infallible integrity and ethical standards.
- Customer service capabilities with ability to demonstrate tact and professionalism.
- Consistent compliance with policies and procedures and ability to help ensure strict adherence by others.
- Working knowledge of appropriate legislative, IFRS, IAS and regulatory requirements.
- Takes personal responsibility for self-improvement and identifying process improvements that foster efficiency.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
- Strong work ethic with attention to detail and meticulous approach to work.
- Be self-motivated; able to work independently; can learn rapidly; and possess sound critical thinking skills and a superior work ethic.
- A combination of relevant qualifications and experience may be considered in lieu of minimum requirements.
