- Determines resource requirements for trade and investment related activities and liaise with sources of funding (e.g national budget votes, EDF etc) to secure such resources.
- Monitors and analyzes dynamics in the domestic and global environment and develops appropriate policies in a proactive manner.
- Assists in the preparation of Trinidad and Tobagoâs WTO Trade Policy Review.

JOB SUMMARY
Highly responsible professional work in the field of Business Development in specific priority sectors. Work in this area will be in respect of policy formulation, implementation, evaluation and the conduct of research and competitiveness studies (sector analysis) to promote development in the non-energy sector.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
- A master’s degree in economics, Business, International Relations or any other Social Sciences discipline.
- Considerable expertise in the conduct of research, negotiations and economic and statistical analysis.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- At least five (5) years’ experience at a management/supervisory level in the area of economic diversification
- Undertakes effective policy formulation and management as it relates to the business environment.
- Reviews and prepares strategic plans for existing and new Industries.
- Oversees implementation and execution of approved strategic plans.
- Undertakes research and evaluation exercises relative to
- promoting economic diversification
- Implements, monitors and evaluates projects in specific industry areas.
- Co-ordinates business and investment support activities in alignment with the objectives of the Ministry of Trade and Industry, including training and seminars
- Advises on the potential impact of new and existing trade agreement on the competitiveness of local firms.

- Must be business oriented Must possess strong analytical skills.

#9 INDUSTRY ANALYST
JOB SUMMARY
The Industry Analyst is expected to provide support to the Industry Specialist and Senior Industry Specialist in specific industry sectors. Work in this area will include identifying business and industry trends, undertaking policy implementation, project evaluation, and the conduct of research and analysis.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Undertakes research and analysis relative to achieving the goals of the targeted industry sectors.
- Assists in the monitoring, implementation and evaluation of projects in specific industry sectors.
- Co-ordinates and organizes meetings, records minutes of meetings, and performs other administrative functions.
- provides input in support of the economic diversification strategy.
- Assists in the co-ordination of sector activities in the context of the wider activities of trade related and other agencies.
- Assists in the successful delivery of training and seminar activities.
- participates in various Ministry fora on industry and business activities.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
