1. Network Support Technician

The primary responsibility of the Network Support Technician is to provide technical services in the management, operations and maintenance of the computer network hardware, intranet communications, LANs, WANs and related connectivity infrastructure of the Corporation.

SUMMARY 

The primary responsibility of the Network Support Technician is to provide technical services in the management, operations and maintenance of the computer network hardware, intranet communications, LANs, WANs and related connectivity infrastructure of the Corporation.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Plan, design and implement voice and data network solutions for to suite business needs.
• Implement information security solutions, to include cybersecurity and network security systems.
• Design and implement network monitoring solutions for performance monitoring, fault detection and alerting.
• Design and implement network for end user telecommuting using legacy VPN solutions as well as novel cloud IaaS solutions.
• Design and upgrade solution based on business requirements and capacity planning.
• Analyze the performance of network traffic such as bandwidth and throughput as well as network quality SLA KPIs such as latency, packet loss and jitter.
• Analyze network packets and specific network protocols for network performance troubleshooting and optimization.
• Implement network for on premise data centre services as well as cloud data service.
• Optimize network for transmission of delay sensitive real time transport such as voice traffic.
• Optimize network based on capacity planning and dynamically changing business requirements.
• Install, configure and maintain network hardware equipment such as routers, switches, wireless access devices, firewalls, IPS/IDS devices, VPN concentrators, cyber security appliances etc.
• Work with telecommunications carriers to procure, install, configure, maintain, upgrade and troubleshoot leased WAN circuits.
• Research and recommend network hardware and related software for future projects.
• Provide appropriate user access for the Corporation, BOYD and internet across transports such as LAN, MAN, WAN, WLAN and DIA.
• Perform daily monitoring of network resources, network hardware and other network configuration as well as analysis of associated log files.
• Perform periodic audits of network equipment to verify software license compliance and adherence to best-practice security techniques.
• Perform various levels of configuration management, incident management and change management while following applicable policies, guidelines and best practices.
• Prepare and maintain documentation of the network environment, including connectivity and hardware and circuit inventory.
• Prepare documentation for work to be performed within the network environment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Associate degree in computer science, Studies, Technology or equivalent
• A+ or Network + would be an asset
• Five (5) years’ experience as a Network Technician in a medium sized organization.
• Experience in all aspects of local and wide area networks.
• Experience with the installation and maintenance of Microsoft server technology
• Experience in network operating systems
• Experience with the installation and maintenance of Microsoft server technology.
• Experience working with internet access, search techniques, Home Page development and maintenance, will be an asset.

Any other equivalent combination of training and experience will be considered.

It is celebrated annually on May 30th. The history of Indian Arrival Day traces back to the 19th century when Trinidad and Tobago underwent significant demographic changes due to the abolition of slavery. After the emancipation of African slaves in 1834, there was a demand for labour in Trinidad and Tobago’s agricultural sectors, particularly in the sugar industry. The colonial authorities turned to India as a source of cheap and abundant labour to address this labour shortage. The British colonial government implemented a system of indentured labour, similar to the previous system of African slavery but with some legal differences. Under the indentured labour system, Indian labourers were recruited from various parts of India, primarily from the states of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Bengal, among others. They were promised work contracts, wages, housing, and provisions for a specific period, typically five years. In exchange, the labourers agreed to work on Trinidad’s plantations. The first ship carrying Indian indentured labourers, the Fatel Razack, arrived in Trinidad on May 30, 1845. This event marked the beginning of a mass influx of Indians into the country over the following decades. The Public Transport Service Corporation (PTSC), in its drive towards improving and expanding its services, is pleased to invite applications for the following CONTRACT position.

Systems Support Technician

SUMMARY

The Systems Support Technician troubleshoot technical issues, provide timely customer feedback, and support the roll-out of new applications as well as updates to existing software. The Systems Support Technician will support the corporation’s ability to maintain a productive end-user technology environment by ensuring that all provided hardware and software assets are fully functional. This position will provide technical support for equipment such as computers, printers and IP phones along with associated software components.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Identifying hardware and software solutions.
• Troubleshooting technical issues.
• Diagnosing and repairing faults.
• Resolving network issues.
• Installing and configuring hardware and software.
• Speaking to users to quickly get to the root of their problem.
• Providing timely and accurate customer feedback.
• Talking customers through a series of actions to resolve a problem.
• Following up with clients to ensure the problem is resolved.
• Replacing or repairing the necessary parts in a computer system
• Supporting the roll-out of new applications.
• Providing support in the form of procedural documentation.
• Managing multiple cases at one time.
• Testing and evaluating new technologies.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Associate degree in computer science, Studies, Technology or equivalent
• IT professional certifications such as CompTIA A+ and Network+ are highly recommended.
• At least three (3) years in performing customer service functions
• Experience with Operating System Administration – Windows 7, 10, 11, Server 2012, 2016, 2019, Apple IOS and Android
• Software Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and various Antivirus and Security applications.
• Good understanding of network operating systems in a client-server networking environment
• Good knowledge of workstation, server and network hardware.
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft office products; to include configuration of MS Outlook   email client.
• Experience in technical reporting and documentation

SYSTEMS SUPPORT ADMINISTRATOR

SUMMARY 

An employee in this class is responsible for the installation, support and maintenance of company servers and other computer systems, equipment and technological requirements, acquisition, and use. Plans for and responds to service outages and other problems. Duties may include scripting, light programming, project management for systems-related projects, supervising and/or training computer operators and being the equivalent of a “handyman” for computer problems beyond the knowledge of the technical support staff.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Responsible for daily checks of system software.
• Maintain an up-to-date virus protection software on the server and all other connected client machines.
• Analyze, evaluate, and make recommendations concerning existing information technology/systems processes, policies and procedures for efficiency and effectiveness, and the development of new IT policy, procedures, standards, tools, and techniques in accordance with Government procurement guidelines and industry best practices.
• Monitor and maintain the daily and weekly back-up of data on the network– including periodic updates and upgrades to the system.
• Configuration of all hardware and software systems.
• Responsible for the documentation of system configurations. Provide technical expertise in network planning, design, and modifications.
• Installs and maintains company servers and networks including OSs and NOSs.
• Responsible for overall network and system security including the upkeep of firewalls and intrusion detection systems.
• Responsible for system performance tuning.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computing, Information Systems, Management or related fields.
• Technical Certification such as A+, MCSE
• COMPTIA Network Certification
• Five (5) years’ experience as a Network Administrator in a medium-sized organization.
• Experience in all aspects of local and wide area networks.
• Experience with the installation and maintenance of Microsoft server technology
• Experience in network operating systems
• Experience with the installation and maintenance of Microsoft server technology.
• Experience working with internet access, search techniques, Home Page development, and maintenance, will be an asset.

Any other equivalent combination of training and experience will be considered.
