PORT AUTHORITY OF TRINIDAD AND TOBAGOVACANCY: SENIOR INTERNAL AUDIT ASSISTANT (CONTRACT)
Job Summary:
The Senior Internal Audit Assistant (Contract) reports directly to the Internal Auditor and is responsible for completing internal audit activities consistent with Internal Auditing Standard and Practices and Guidelines. This includes all phases of the audit process.
Responsibilities:- Identify business objectives, risks and evaluate key controls based on interviews with clients
- Assist in the design and execution of audits to ensure adequacy and effectiveness of the internal control environment, compliance with Company policies and procedures, statutory requirements and identify opportunities for process improvements
- Develop preliminary findings and realistic recommendations to improve / enhance the internal control environment
- Work with management to develop acceptable solutions to address issues or gaps identified and follow-up with management to ensure remediation is implemented
- Prepares and reviews accurate, logical and detailed work papers clearly documenting processes, describing the work performed, test results and conclusions reached
- Leverage insights and understanding of the Company in identifying risks and potential areas for audit
- Testing the effectiveness of the Companyâs controls and work with management to ensure remediation is implemented for deficiencies identified
- Provide guidance to Internal Audit Assistant (Contract)
- Complete audits on time and submit reports to Internal Auditor
- Maintain an awareness of audit trends and âbest practicesâ
- Interact with Company management and key personnel to build / maintain ongoing business relationships by utilizing strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Perform other internal audit related duties as assigned
Minimum Qualification/ Experience and Training Requirements:
- Pursuing Strategic Professional level ACCA and or possesses a Degree in Accounting or any other recognized professional qualification in Accounting or Business related field.
- CIA, CRMA, CFE, CISA Certification would be considered an asset.
- At least three (3) years auditing experience
- Work effectively as a team member, sharing responsibility, providing support, maintaining communication and updating senior team members on progress.
- Contribute ideas/opinions to the assurance teams and listen/respond to other assurance team members’ views
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Good project management skills

 Vacancy: Internal Auditor (Contract)Â
Job Summary:
We are seeking a motivated, highly organized, detail-oriented candidate to join the Internal Audit Team. The Internal Auditor (Contract) will report directly to the Chief Internal Auditor and must demonstrate his or her competence and professionalism in the areas of internal auditing and investigations. Competencies include but are not limited to the designing of Audit Programs, execution of highly complex audits and the preparation of reports.
This position will support initiatives focused on but not limited to, risk mitigation, identification, and resolution relative to fraud and misconduct. The role requires teaming with process owners and legal representatives to address risks and drive consistency in advisory and investigation projects.
Responsibilites:
- Plans and organizes the activities of the Internal Audit Department including the development and implementation of comprehensive, practical programs of audit as it pertains to Governance, Risk Management and Controls
- Conducts investigations related to suspected fraud
- Manages subordinate staff and audits in assigned areas of responsibility
- Ensures maintenance of high departmental standards and quality of audit projects by reviewing and approving audit programs, working papers and time budgets
- Presents findings and recommendations concerning activities audited or investigated, through comprehensive reports
- Assures follow up of audit findings and recommendations to ensure adequacy and timeliness of correction
- Coordinates audit activities with other departments to assign resources needed to execute programs and conduct audits
- Develops the departmentâs annual budget and monitors subsequent expenditure
- Develops the professional capability of staff through on-the-job training and other training programs
- Performs other related duties as required
Minimum Requirements:
- A professional qualification from the Institute of Internal Auditors (e.g. CIA, CRMA) or one of the recognized professional Accounting Bodies
- A professional qualification in Forensics or Fraud Examination (e.g. CFE) would be an asset
- At least five (5) years work experience in an Auditing environment
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Results Oriented
- Set and exemplify high ethical standards
- Considerable experience in risk identification
- Strong analytical skills and ability to synthesize, summarize and communicate important data
- Considerable knowledge of accounting and auditing principles
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with management
