Provide leadership for and oversee all activities of the Company’s Insurance portfolio, including the insurance policies and insurable risks
JOB SUMMARY:
The Manager Insurance will report to the General Counsel & Corporate Secretary. The selected candidate will provide leadership for and oversee all activities of the Company’s Insurance portfolio, including the insurance policies and insurable risks. He/she will develop and manage an insurance risk strategy in support of commercial and operational objectives in accordance with company policies, regulatory guidelines and all accepted international and industry standards. He/she will be responsible for all areas of insurance coverage, including all Aviation Insurance, General Insurance, Risk Management and equipment and trade interests. He/she will make appropriate recommendations on coverage and costs.
KEY DELIVERABLES:
- Claim Management: Negotiates with all claim stakeholders, including Insurance Companies, Brokers, Lawyers, Loss Adjusters and Third-Party Claim Administrators, to achieve the best possible insurance claims settlements
- Legal Document Review: Provides advice on matters relating to the insurance-related terms of the Company’s contracts, including its aircraft and engine leases, operational contracts, commercial contracts, cargo contracts and financial agreements.
- Risk Management: Identifies, evaluates and advises on potential risks of courses of action taken by the Company, to limit exposure and liability for the Company’s operations and interests. Negotiates and evaluates vendor risk transfer to ensure insurance coverage never lapses.
- Compliance: Oversees the Company’s compliance with insurance laws and regulations domestically and abroad. Oversees contract management system and contractual compliance.
- Continuous improvement: Supports the development of a culture of constant improvement by continuously measuring internal and external factors and developing new and effective ways to drive business opportunities.
CANDIDATE SPECIFICATION:
You must possess a first degree in Law or Business Management with a minimum of five (5) years in a management or supervisory position. Current membership of the Chartered Insurance Institute (ACII) or equivalent is an asset. You must have an in-depth knowledge of the laws of Trinidad & Tobago relating to Insurance, Motor Vehicles and Workmen’s Compensation, and a general understanding of Contract Law and Employers’ Liability. You must have extensive and demonstrated professional knowledge of insurance claims management. You must demonstrate the ability to work within tight timeframes and balance competing stakeholder demands and expectations.
You must have a high degree of professional ethics and excellent judgment. You must display strong analytical and problem-solving skills. You must demonstrate interpersonal, listening, oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with various internal and external stakeholders, both domestically and internationally, including insurance brokers and staff. You must be team-oriented and must display a self-starter attitude.
