Supervisory Position: No Relocation Expenses Reimbursed: No Duties Incumbent serves as a Visa Assistant in U.S. Embassy Port of Spain’s consular Visa Unit. The incumbent provides a full range of immigrant and non-immigrant visa (IV and NIV) services. After full training is achieved, the incumbent is fully trained to handle a high volume of cases and has the ability to evaluate and respond to non-routine cases. The incumbent has training responsibilities for new, temporary, and seasonal employees, and offers advice and guidance to eligible family member (EFM) employees and up to four consular officers on complex cases and procedures. U.S. Embassy Port of Spain is a medium-volume post with up to 1,500 IV and 40,000 NIV applicants per year. The employee is fully cross-trained to function in any role in the unit as required by visa demand and scheduling, and regularly rotates to cross-train in different areas of the unit. Incumbent has authoritative knowledge of 9 FAM regulations. Qualifications and Evaluations Requirements: EXPERIENCE: At least two years of progressively responsible experience in work involving contact with the public in fast-paced environment required. Education Requirements: Mandatory: College (2 years) or Post-Secondary School studies required. Evaluations: LANGUAGE: Mandatory: Level IV (Fluency) English speaking, reading and writing is required.
