VACANCY
The Public Transport Service Corporation (PTSC), in its drive towards improving and expanding its services, is pleased to invite applications for the following contract position.
Human Resource Officer- Tobago
One (1) Position
SUMMARY
The incumbent is an integral component of the HR department, responsible for a wide range of human resource related functions. This would include but is not limited to assisting with industrial relations matters, recruitment and selection, training and development, employee relations, benefits and compensation and working alongside the OSH officer in resolving health and safety issues within the designated depot. The HRO – Tobago Services also promote a positive work environment and resolve conflicts.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Directs activities related to dispatching, routing and tracking PTSC vehicles.
- Plans, organizes and manages the work of subordinate staff within all departments attached to the Tobago depot, to ensure that the work is accomplished in a manner consistent with organizational requirements.
- Directs investigations to verify and resolve customer complaints as it relates to the service of the Corporation.
- Serves as contact persons of Management for all workers within the Tobago depot.
- Implements schedules and policy changes within the Tobago depot as directed by the Corporation.
- Collaborates with other managers and staff members to formulate and implement policies, procedures, goals, and objectives.
- Monitors operations to ensure that staff members comply with administrative policies and procedures, safety rules, union contracts, and government regulations.
- Promotes safe work activities by conducting safety audits, attending company safety meetings with individual staff members.
- Develops criteria, application instructions, procedural manuals and contracts for PTSC.
- Monitors spending to ensure that expenses are consistent with approved budgets.
- Liaises with other Departments Heads to ensure adequate allocation of fleet, service, evaluation and monitoring is adhered to for all departments/sections.
- Any other assignments entrusted by General Manager.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- A Bachelor’s Degree or Associate Degree in Human Resource Management, Industrial/Labour Relations, Business Administration or a related field
- Supervisory skills
- At least two (2) years’ experience in a similar capacity in a unionized environment
- Confidential and results oriented
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Time Management skills
- Teamwork, professionalism and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of Human Resource Management best practices, particularly in the areas of industrial relations, recruitment, training and development, employee relations and performance management
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

VACANCY

Procurement and Logistics Manager
one (1) position
SUMMARY
To direct and control the central purchasing function; to ensure that goods and services are purchased at the most competitive prices and at the required quality; and to ensure that goods and supplies are re-ordered and kept in stock so as to make the most efficient use of the Corporation’s resources.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develops and implements systems, policies and procedures to ensure that the Corporation’s procurement function operates effectively and efficiently.
- Directs and controls procurement staff to ensure that they are well motivated and trained and that they carry out their responsibilities to the required standard.
- Maintains the procurement budget to ensure the effective monitoring and control of all purchases.
- Manages spending in accordance with approved budgets and within stipulated guidelines.
- Negotiates contracts with suppliers who meet the company’s requirements to secure the most favourable terms of business for the Corporation.
- Keeps all contracts for the supply of goods and services under review to ensure that they are being carried out effectively and re-negotiates terms where necessary.
- Maintains an awareness of any developments in the field of central purchasing or with suppliers to ensure that the Corporation continues to apply the most effective policies and procedures.
- Participates, from time-to-time, in cross-functional teams on projects involving the acquisition of major assets.
- Performs other related duties as may be assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- A Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Purchasing, Procurement or a related discipline
- Minimum of three (3) years similar experience
- Negotiation skills
- Networking and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of procurement legislation, contract law, buying procedures and other relevant government regulations
- Ability to manage budgets
- Ability to work within strict deadlines
- Ability to protect confidential information
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and knowledge of purchasing software

System Administrator
VACANCY
The Public Transport Service Corporation (PTSC), in its drive towards improving and expanding its services, is pleased to invite applications for the following permanent position:
Systems Administrator
SUMMARY
An employee in this class is responsible for the installation, support and maintenance of company servers and other computer systems. Plans for and responds to service outages and other problems. Duties may include scripting, light programming, project management for systems-related projects, supervising and/or training computer operators and being the equivalent of a ‘handyman’ for computer problems beyond the knowledge of the technical support staff.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for daily checks of system software;
- Performs regulated data back-ups;
- Configuration of all hardware and software systems;
- Responsible for the documentation of system configurations;
- Installs and maintains company servers and networks including OSs and NOSs;
- Responsible for overall network and system security including the upkeep of firewalls and intrusion detection systems;
- Responsible for system performance tuning.
- Reports to the Technical Analyst and IT Administrator.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computing, Information Systems, Management or related fields.
- Technical Certification such as A+, MCSE, Master CIW Administrator, CIW Security Analyst would be an asset;
- At least two (2) years’ experience in relevant functional fields;
- Knowledge of operating systems and applications as well as hardware and software troubleshooting;
- Must be able to quickly and correctly diagnose computer/system related issues;
- Must understand the behavior of software in order to deploy it and to troubleshoot problems;
- Knowledge of several programming languages used for scripting or automation of routine tasks;
- Must have a strong grasp of computer security. This includes not merely deploying software patches but also preventing break-ins and other security problems with preventive measures.
Any comparable combination of training will be considered.
