PORT AUTHORITY OF TRINIDAD AND TOBAGOVACANCY : DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR
Job Summary
The successful applicant reports directly to the Head of Information Technology and shall be responsible for implementing, monitoring, optimizing, developing, maintaining and repairing the Authority’s databases and database application environment at required locations throughout the Port, Port of Spain and Tobago.
Responsibilities
- Analyzes existing database systems and recommend improvements
- Designs, develops, deploys and supports database production environments on Microsoft Structured Query Language (SQL) server infrastructure
- Plans, coordinates and implements security measures to safeguard database information against accidental or unauthorized damage, modification or disclosure
- Creates and maintains database access systems including tables, indexes, views, stored procedures, scripts and triggers
- Implements and administers database replication between servers, across Local Area Network and Wide Area Network
- Implements backup and restores database functionality, business intelligence services and data warehousing
- Performs system optimization and improvement planning including, but not limited to SQL Server database performance analysis, capacity planning, system sizing and on-going maintenance/tuning ensuring maximum performance
- Plans, coordinates and implements security measures/policies to safeguard information in computer files against accidental or unauthorized damage, modification or disclosure
- Develops standards and guidelines to guide and use and acquisition of software
- Available on a twenty-four hour basis when required
- Performs any other related duties as assigned by the Head of Information Technology

Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science or in a similar discipline
- Four or more years’ experience as a Microsoft SQL Server Database Administrator with significant experience in Microsoft SQL server 2014 or higher production environment
- Microsoft Certified (SQL) Database Administrator qualification would be an asset
Required Knowledge and Skills
- Considerable knowledge of database technology, database development, administration and maintenance
- Experience with Transact SQL
- Knowledge of (a) high availability architecture including clustering, data replication, log shipping, database mirroring, (b) business intelligence, analysis services, reporting services and integration services
- Experience with Internet and Intranet database connectivity would be an asset
- Oracle database certification will be an asset
- Excellent verbal and report writing skills
- Ability to work with little or no supervision
- Ability to deliver within deadlines

PROGRAMMER ANALYST III
The successful applicant reports directly to the Manager, Systems Development and shall be responsible
for the development of electronic software systems plus improving existing systems to achieve the desired
goals and objectives of the organization. This position also requires the analysis of systems and processes,
both manual and electronic with the objective of improvement through software development.
Responsibilities
- Develops and executes products and process solutions using a structured systems engineering approach that ensures an integrated and balanced life cycle set of technical systems, cost and supportability.
- Develops processes, procedures and tools for analyzing, allocating, integrating, updating and maintaining computer programs or software packages to handle specific jobs, such as tracking inventory, storing or retrieving data, or controlling other equipment.
- Performs or directs revisions, repairs or expansion of existing programs to increase operating efficiency or adapts to new requirements.
- Develops and executes integrated departmental plans, policies and procedures and provides input on departmental business and technical strategies, goals, and objectives.
- Develops software programs and reports on platforms.
- Performs Implementation and configuration of EDI programming functionality pivotal to the organizations’ data automation initiative.
- Interacts with eternal parties to facilitate system integration to further data automation initiatives.
- Supports all software programs in use within the organization.
- Assists junior programmers with coding challenges.
- Designs unit test plans and prepare appropriate documentation.
- Oversees IT projects as required.
- Performs any other related duties assigned by the Head of Information Technology.

Minimum Requirements
