OUR NEED
We are seeking a Service Desk Tier 1 Associate to work with our Information Technology Team, with responsibility for providing service & operational support to the Bermudez Group of Companies.
Included among the responsibilities of the role are: –
- Install or remove hardware and/or software, using defined installation instructions and tools.
- Test and correct malfunctions in end user or related equipment and document results in accordance with procedures; and provide assistance to users in a professional manner following agreed procedures.Assist the IT Department and/or business units with the release and deployment of changes and updates to the live IT and end user environment.
- Investigate minor breaches with the IT infrastructure in accordance with established procedures.
- Carry our agreed operational procedure of a routine nature; contribute to maintenance, installation and problem resolution for the business units.
- Receive, Create and handle service desk and incident management requests for the business units by following the agreed procedures and maintaining of relevant records.
- Assist with the maintenance and update of the IT asset inventory dataset and setup the register for new assets on the IT Asset Register as well as the removal of assets for disposal.
- Research and evaluate various current and emerging hardware and software technologies which can benefit end user computing needs of the business units.
- Escalates major network / cybersecurity issues to the Tier 2 Specialists.

DESIRED BACKGROUND/SKILLS
- Undergraduate Degree in IT with focus on application maintenance and at least 1-2 years working experience in a maintenance or implementation environment.
- Sound theoretical and practical knowledge of information and communications technology (ICT) policies, practices and procedures with special reference to application development and maintenance, as well as business applications.
- Sound knowledge of database management systems and operations.
- Calculative, analytical and diagnostic ability in applying technology solution to business problems.
- Good Interpersonal and communicative skills as well as good Interpretative judgment.
- An appreciation of the general principles and practices of business management.
- Negotiating skills and the capacity to influence others to follow appropriate courses of action.
- Ability to work with other including the software developers.
