Job Description
Reporting to the Team Lead, this position works as part of the Data Centre Services Team to ensure the smooth operation of GovNeTT, the Government Wide Area Network of Trinidad and Tobago. This network and Data Centre provides a secure and reliable hosting environment for basic ICT connectivity, desktop as well as business application systems, to facilitate an ICT-enabled workforce in the Government of Trinidad & Tobago, and supports business transactions between the Government and its external customers (i.e. the public and the business community).
Key and Critical Responsibilities
- Oversees the provision of service support to handle customer issues and requests related to the GovNeTT and its related services. These services include, but are not limited to: GovNeTT Enterprise Active Directory & Exchange Mail services, Data Centre Services, Incidents, Problems, Service Requests and Change Orders to allow interconnectivity and service availability.
- Analyses all assigned tickets (Incidents, Problems, Changes, Service Requests) to ensure that Data Centre Services meets the Service Level Agreement (SLAs) in terms of response and resolution time;
- Administers the process to meet desired quality standards for support services provided to clients;
- Provides monthly and quarterly progress report on all assigned tickets to Team Lead (Data Centre Services) with recommendations for corrective actions and follow-through;
- Assists clients in understanding and using technology; conducts regular staff technology presentations and trainings;
- Assists in developing and maintaining technology policies, standards and procedures manual; develops and maintains related technology checklists;
- Prepares reports in collaboration with the Team Lead (Data Centre Services) for workshops, seminars, conferences, meetings and trainings attended for the communication and sensitization of products and services offered by the company;
- Develops, in collaboration with the Team Lead (Data Centre Services), master purchase or lease agreements for hardware, software, maintenance and telecommunication services;
- Assists in the development of the approved annual operating and capital budgets for the operations and services of the unit;
- Maintains strategic contact with IT suppliers and maintains knowledge of current technology, equipment, prices and terms of agreements, certifying financial payments to minimize the investment required to meet established service levels;
- Manages relationships with vendors for sales, service and support of all information systems and technology under Data Centre Services;
- Assists in the development and enforcement of policy and procedures to ensure the protection of the affiliate’s IT assets and the integrity, security and privacy if information entrusted to or maintained by the affiliate;
- Facilitates audits and compliance exercises on software infrastructures, local area networks and ICT hosting facilities based on best practices and standards for resilience, security and environmental controls;
- Establishes internationally compliant (e.g. ITIL) operations management framework to facilitate day-to-day operations activities e.g. system migration, backup & recovery, system monitoring, problem escalation;
- Acts as a point of escalation for GovNeTT related activities both with the GDC team and with the solution vendor
- Performs other relevant duties assigned by the Team Lead, Data Centre Services.
- Ensure compliance and achievement of identified KPIs, SLAs and OLAs for the team
- Support the other Teams in the achievement of their SLAs and OLAs
- Work with other company Units on ICT related projects;

Key Competency
Knowledge & Experience:
- At least 5 – 7 years’ experience managing real-time, mission-critical Service desk operations in a fast paced ICT environment;
- Specialist knowledge and experience working with international ICT best practices such as ITIL
- General understanding of common desktop applications, understanding of common infrastructural technical problems;
- Proven ability to solve complex problems presented on the job;
- Proven ability to make decisions within a fast pace organization;
- Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with clients and vendors in the interest of the iGovTT;
- Proven ability in researching, troubleshooting and resolving networking, hardware and support issues;
- Ability to gather new technical knowledge quickly, through self-study and minimal hands-on training to gain sufficient understanding to handle first line of problem resolution;
- Shows initiative, is responsive and customer-oriented.
Education/Accomplishments:
- Bachelor’s Degree in ICT, MIS, Computer Science, Engineering, Telecommunications, or other or any other related discipline
- ITIL Certification
