VACANCY

The Public Transport Service Corporation (PTSC), in its drive towards improving and expanding its services, is pleased to invite applications for the following CONTRACT position:

JOB SUMMARY:

The Project Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day duties of a project’s administration. The incumbent has competencies in creating and interpreting drawings for construction, remodeling or renovation projects.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assists the Project Manager where applicable, in the day-to-day duties of a project’s administration, working closely under the guidance and direction of the Assistant Project Manager;
Assists in plan and spec analysis in order to provide clear, trackable and coordinated interpretations of the design/drawings for construction;
Researches and recommends solutions to design document problems, including conflicts, interferences and errors/omissions;
Acts as a liaison with subcontractors in expediting drawings and related information;
Maintains accurate and up-to-date logs (RFI, Vendor/Subcontractor, Purchase, Owner etc.) tracts responses and advises the Project Manager of the status of RFI’s;
Obtains quotations for Notices of Change;
Maintains and updates the Shop Drawing Log, reviews Shop Drawings and submittals;
Coordinates submittals and procures all close-out documents including warranties and Operating Maintenance Manuals;
Monitors field work, including contract work, to ensure compliance with company standards, procedures, specifications and codes;
Participates in the continuous updating and accurate generation of as-built documents;
Assists with the research and preparation of field change requests to resolve design issues; conducts quality control activities in accordance with instructions, inspection programs, using specified control measuring and testing equipment;
Prepares drawings and sketches to support construction work as required;
Understands and performs document control functions in accordance with on-site policy and procedures, including tracking and creating of RFI’s, transmitting and tracking of submittals, composes agreements, and maintains project expediting list;
Attends project coordination and owner/contractor/architect/engineer meetings as requested or required;
Coordinates periodic job-related photographs for records;
Presents oneself as a candidate for promotion by learning and understanding construction methods and developing good construction management skills;
Performs additional assignments and responsibilities as assumed or requested by supervision.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of 5 GCE/CXC passes including Mathematics and English Language;
Formal Training as evidenced by a Degree or Diploma in Drafting, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Architecture or a related field;
Project Management skills;
Knowledge of Building Codes in Trinidad and Tobago;
Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety laws and practices;
Good verbal and written communication skills;
Excellent interpersonal skills.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

A minimum of three (3) years similar experience;
Any combination of experience and academic qualifications from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
