When you are planning to take a hike weeks in advance, your greatest wish is for the day to be sunny and bright. Indeed, it was a great day for hikers who trekked the hills of Matura all the way to Mermaid Pool on an adventure with the Surge Katalyst team on Sunday, September 10, 2017.

The event was sponsored by the Ministry of Community Development Culture and the Arts. It was free to the public and the meeting point was at UWI SPEC, St Augustine. From there, participants were shuttled to Matura where the hike began. Of course, it started off with a prayer and a safety briefing. Safety equipment such as life jackets were distributed to hikers, priority being given to children and non-swimmers.

It was a fun-filled experience for the participants consisting of men, women and children who came out in substantial numbers as families, crews, partners and singles. Here are some scenes from the hike. If you have any photos that you would like to share with our readers, feel free to send them to contact@sweettntmagazine.com with some information about the hike and your experience.
