The Public Transport Service Corporation (PTSC), in its drive towards improving and expanding its services, is pleased to invite applications for the following CONTRACT position:

Internal Auditor

JOB SUMMARY:

The Internal Auditor is responsible for executing the Corporation’s Internal Audit function. The Internal Auditor is independent and objective, yet able to develop and maintain excellent working relationships with key personnel across the Corporation.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develops and executes an audit plan for the Corporation.
Supervises the Audit Department, including managing employee performance and scheduling and assigning work in the furtherance of the audit plan.
Plans and conducts audits of the Corporation’s financial and operational systems, procedures and activities.
Prepares timely audit reports that identify risks, short-comings and non-conformances and makes recommendations for addressing such.
Follows up on audit recommendations to help ensure that agreed targets and objectives are achieved.
Analyses and monitors internal controls and makes recommendations to ensure compliance with all relevant standards, regulations and best practices.
Liaises with external auditors and relevant internal parties to assist in the coordination of external audits.
Executes related projects and assignments as requested by the Board.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or recognized professional qualification, such as CIMA, ACCA, IIA or CPA.
Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a similar position.
Experience in the public sector and experience in a unionized environment are desirable.
Ability to protect confidential information.
Analytical and problem solving skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

Knowledge of audit procedures, including planning, techniques, testing and sampling methods.
Computer literacy.
Up-to-date knowledge of developments related to internal audit and to business matters of interest to the Corporation, such as changes in legislation and new auditing techniques and practices.
Any combination of experience and academic qualifications from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
