Job Purpose & Summary:
The Credit Officer partner’s with all clients to achieve their strategic business objectives while at the same time adhering to the Bank’s risk appetite and policies approved by the BOD. This involves documenting comprehensive credit proposals that reflect the Client’s Financial and Business needs, which would facilitate growth. In addition, he/she ensures that all clients’ requests are completed in a comprehensive, accurate, professional and timely manner.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepares comprehensive credit proposals ensuring that all risks are identified, analysed and with mitigants, if applicable, in order that informed recommendations for approvals are made. Works closely with the Portfolio Management Unit with respect to booking of approved facilities.
- Maintains close client contact to take advantage of upsell opportunities, ensuring that assigned targets are achieved.
- Ensures that all client queries and requests are completed in a comprehensive, accurate, professional and timely manner.
- Ensures that close client contact is made to identify problems which would result in timely watch listing and early corrective action.
- Keep abreast of current economic, industry and other environmental developments that may impact clients, which will facilitate meaningful conversations to inform decisions both by the client and the Bank.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Management/Economics/Finance or related field from an accredited University
- Institute of Banking and Finance of Trinidad and Tobago (IBAF) qualifications would be a benefit
- A minimum of three (3) years banking experience in Credit Risk
- Experience in a similar position would be an asset.

The Business Development Manager works closely with the Branch Manager to actively manage and grow business from a portfolio of existing clients and identifying and targeting new business opportunities for growth. This role plays a contributory function in the achievement of the Branch’s financial targets, whilst ensuring overall client satisfaction. This role also ensures that the branch’s lending portfolio is of a high quality and is fully compliant at all times with internal policies and local laws, regulatory and statutory guidelines. The Business Development Manager plays a supervisory role in the Branch, offering sales routine management and leadership oversight.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Selling all the financial products and services offered by JMMB with emphasis on loans and deposits
- Markets the Bank’s products and services to existing and potential clients.
- Develops, recommends and/or implements strategies and programs in conjunction with the Manager to achieve revenue goals within the established parameters
- Establish and develop an enviable client base through prospecting; direct sales and off-site presentations
- Leads external marketing initiatives of the branch.
- Develops relationships with Centres of Influence, internal and external partners and reputable organizations and NGOs to generate leads.
- Ensures that all clients are solicited for referrals of new business opportunities and that there is partnering with our Commercial and Corporate Teams to capitalize on opportunities with their clientele.
- Recommends new product offerings and services solutions to better satisfy customers’ needs and create a competitive advantage for the bank.
- Actively manages the branch’s sales pipeline to ensure approved loan cover and ensure timeliness of credit application submission.
- Conducting financial and credit analysis; preparing credit proposals to be submitted for approval and booking and disbursing loans for which the requisite approval is obtained.
- Assisting in the development and implementation of strategies and procedures for the achievement of a high client retention rate built on superior service and client satisfaction
- Assists the Branch Manager, in effectively managing the client experience from a lending perspective as well as collaborating with the branch management team on client care issues/initiatives the branch.
- Manages client relationships in adherence to the client partnership standards to ensure optimal levels of client care.
- Conducts trailer calls on a weekly basis to gauge client feedback on outbound call quality.
- Establishing, servicing and constantly reviewing customers’ accounts as well as assigned credit portfolio, ensuring that the customer is kept abreast of new developments and that the credit delinquency level is kept at the minimum
- Actively manage and minimize delinquent accounts in the portfolio and acts in accordance with standard delinquency management procedures.
- Manages team performance by identifying personal gaps and advising to Branch Manager for gap analysis and correction;
- Coaching Relationship Officers on an ongoing basis, to enhance the team’s capability, improve credit quality and reduce application roll-backs, and conducting weekly Goal Setting conversations to plan and monitor the team’s sales activities within acceptable benchmarks.
- Supervises the duties of the RO’s within the unit to ensure compliance with internal policies and standards and supports credit proposals within the branch to ensure appropriateness of credit structure, adequacy of due diligence and credit quality.
- Keeps abreast of changes in the economic and business environment that may have a direct impact on our clients and acts with alacrity to mitigate risks to the Bank, where they may arise.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

Performance Criteria:
This job is satisfactorily performed when:

- The achievement of a personal sales plan which is linked to the overall corporate plan.
Education, Training & Work Experience Required:
- B.Sc. Finance, Economics, Management or related field
- Associated certifications (if any) would be an asset
- Minimum five (5) years practical experience in banking environment, three (3) of which should be in Retail or Commercial Credit
- Experience in Relationship Management / Business Development role within Retail or Commercial Banking would be an asset
- Minimum of one (1) year Supervisory experience
Skills:
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written)

- Well-developed negotiation and selling skills.
