KEY DUTIES
- Plan and coordinate Consumer Competitive testing (CCT) in conjunction with the marketing Team
- Provide information on the sensory characteristics and also consumer acceptability of experimental products as compared with existing products in the market.
- Development of well trained, extensive panels (Internally and Externally) for a broad data base of results that would provide accurate results for decision making
- Conducting and maintaining sensory panels – descriptive and discriminative, which includes tracking of panelist’s performance.
- Preparation and administration of sensory sessions which includes Interacting with the test requestor so that the test objective is properly defined and that an appropriate method is applied. Determining the nature and number of samples to be tested, as well as the proper preparation procedure, Selection of reference standards and verify all samples and references are accurately prepared and presented, recording and compilation panel results. Preparation of reports with the results and conclusions clearly defined.
- Areas of monitoring are but not exclusive to, product from production runs in order to detect and monitor any processing deviations, products from the trade, Characterization of Competitor’s Product, Raw Material, ensuring that all meet quality standards
- Developing sensory profiles for seasonings/flavours and finished goods.
- Creating a portfolio of flavours
- Maintain ‘Gold Standards’ of all our products (New and Existing), so that there is always a reference to which complaints and any deviations of product can be compared to.
- Lead in evaluation of Storage stability and Shelf Life – testing of current and experimental products after standard aging tests. Ascertain when difference becomes noticeable. Monitor many attributes simultaneously. Determine acceptance of stored product
- Have/Obtain a clear understanding of Requirements of Export Markets for Product Labels to ensure Packaging Film Specification Reports (PFSRs) are accurately completed. Independently review completed PFSRs to ensure accuracy and compliance with requirements.
- Participate in R&D meetings and execute required follow-ups.
- Research new items and product trends on the international and local market and apply concepts and innovative ideas to the business strategy.
- Gain an understanding of the manufacturing process sufficiently to be able to lead and trouble shoot product trials as requested.
- Perform other related duties as required by the job function.
