Job Description: Heavy-T Driver – Coop’s Services

Role purpose

Coop’s Services is seeking a dependable, safety-conscious, and customer-focused Driver / Courier to safely transport goods, equipment, materials, employees, and documents between Company locations, suppliers, customers, ports, and other designated destinations, while protecting Company assets, complying with lawful management instructions, and maintaining the highest standards of safety, professionalism, and accountability.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring deliveries and collections are completed accurately, on time, and in accordance with Company procedures while maintaining Company vehicles in a clean, safe, and roadworthy condition.

This position requires excellent time management, accountability, professionalism, and the ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays, to support the Company’s operational requirements.

Key responsibilities

 Transportation & Deliveries

• Safely operate Company vehicles.
• Complete deliveries and collections assigned.
• Load and unload goods safely.
• Transport inventory, chemicals, equipment and supplies between Company locations.
• Deliver documents, contracts and confidential correspondence.
• Collect inventory from suppliers.
• Transport employees where authorised.
• Complete airport, port and Tobago assignments as required.
• Assist with emergency operational requests.
• Purchase supplies and materials on behalf of the Company.
• Verify all items collected and delivered before signing documentation.
• Immediately report delays, shortages, damages, or discrepancies.
• Ensure all deliveries and collections are properly documented before leaving the location.
• Complete delivery logs.
• Obtain signatures for deliveries and collections.

Vehicle Operations

• Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
• Maintain vehicle cleanliness inside and outside.
• Monitor fuel levels.
• Report all defects and required servicing immediately.
• Ensure all vehicle documents remain current.
• Monitor tyre condition.
• Report unusual noises or warning lights.
• Ensure vehicles remain adequately fuelled for scheduled assignments.
• Immediately report all accidents, collisions, vehicle damage, mechanical failures, traffic violations, or incidents involving Company vehicles.
• Never permit unauthorised persons to operate Company vehicles.
• Assist with routine maintenance scheduling.
• Complete mileage logs.
• Complete fuel records.
• Complete inspection reports.
• Complete accident reports.

Company Property & Security

• Protect all Company vehicles, equipment, inventory, documents, keys, fuel cards, and assigned assets.
• Secure vehicles whenever unattended.
• Never leave Company property unattended unless authorised.
• Immediately report loss, theft, or damage.

Safety & Compliance

• Comply with all traffic laws.
• Drive defensively.
• Never operate Company vehicles under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
• Immediately report accidents or incidents.
• Wear required PPE where applicable.
• Follow all Company safety policies.

Qualifications and experience

• Valid Heavy T Driver’s Permit.
• Minimum two (2) years’ commercial driving experience.
• Experience operating manual transmission vehicles.
• Experience with deliveries and collections.
• Physically fit to perform loading and unloading duties.
• Able to work rotating shifts, weekends, overtime, and public holidays.
• Ability to travel throughout Trinidad and Tobago, including Tobago.
• Minimum three (3) CXC/GCE passes including English.
