Risk and Business Continuity Officer
MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB:
The Risk and Business Continuity Officer will support the Risk Manager with the maintenance and continuous improvement of all aspects of the Group’s Enterprise Risk Management System and Business Continuity Management System so as to mitigate and/or reduce risks associated with the achievement of business objectives.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES IN ORDER OF PRIORITY:
- Supports the buildout of the enterprise risk management and business continuity frameworks.
- Contributes to the maintenance, review and continual improvement of the risk register, the business impact assessment, and its supporting operational plans.
- Supports the implementation and continual improvement of the key pillars of the enterprise risk management and business continuity management systems.
- Actively participates in operational and discipline risk assessments and in the development of operational business continuity plans.
- Reviews and verifies the risk control assessment forms for adequacy, accuracy, and completeness so as to validate the risk control scores.
- Identifies and escalates risk and internal control issues to the Risk Manager in a timely manner.
- Independently preforms risk verification assessments to verify calculated risks and adherence to internal controls.
- Participates in the development of operational department plans to ensure risk assessments are incorporated into the plans to ensure achievement of business objectives.
- Supports the training requirements for the enterprise risk management and business continuity management programs.
- Supports the roll out, operationalization and maintenance of software tools required to manage the risk and business continuity management systems.
- Assists in the preparation of reports and presentations related to the activities of the Unit.
- Executes on special projects and other duties and responsibilities as assigned/requested by the Risk Manager and or Chief Executive Officer.
- Assists with the procurement and purchasing functions of the Unit i.e. liaise with suppliers, process quotations and goods receipt in SAP.
- Processes correspondence related to the activities of the Unit.
- Assists in the preparation of risk management and business continuity budgets.
- Develops and maintains effective working relationships with all internal and external stakeholders.
- Complies with all policies and procedures.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Natural Sciences/Economics/Finance or similar field.
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in risk management and or business continuity.
- Knowledge of industry compliance standards and regulations.
- Experience in the conducting operational risk assessments and business impact assessments.
- Relevant experience in the manufacturing industry would be an added advantage.
- ISO Auditor Certifications (such as ISO 22301, ISO 31000, ISO 9001) would be an asset.
- An equivalent combination of both experience and qualifications may be considered in lieu of minimum qualifications.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/ SKILLS/ ABILITIES:
- Detail oriented and meticulous.
- Capability of Prioritizing.
- Good analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
- Auditing /Inspection experience.
- Must be a strong collaborator and communicator who can influence, build consensus, and work effectively across all disciplines.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
- Can manage conflict within the team.
- Ability to work well with all levels of the organizational structure.
- Ability to maximize productivity by focusing on setting priorities.
