PROGRAMMER I
Applications are invited from persons with suitable qualifications to fill the position of “Programmer I’’ at Republic Bank Limited – Trinidad and Tobago.
The jobholder is responsible for:
- Providing programming support for the Bank’s mission critical Live Core Banking Systems and ensuring their proper functioning. This also includes on-call support, ensuring that the Bank’s critical batch update is completed in a timely and accurate manner.
- Developing of new programs, reports and making amendments to (maintaining) existing programs and reports as part of projects undertaken by Technology Advancement, to increase the Bank’s business opportunities and providing key users with information required for the decision-making processes relating to the critical success factors of the organisation.
- Developing and amending user and technical documentation to ensure that key users possess an accurate and comprehensive guide to operate and troubleshoot problems as well as software installation and ensuring that critical software and documentation is up to date when promoting to Production.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- On-Call Support for Live Core Banking Systems: Performing technical analysis and troubleshooting of programming/application problems encountered with the Bank’s Core Production systems to determine a solution to quickly implement immediate and accurate corrective action after hours.
- Support for Testing Core and related Banking Systems: Performing technical analysis and troubleshooting of programming/application problems (includes both system and operator errors) encountered with the Bank’s Core Production systems and determine a solution quickly and implement accurate corrective measures.
- Developing Reports: Developing, Coding, amending and testing new and existing Bank reports critical to the Bank’s operation after the analysis of user requirements.
- Designing, Coding and Testing new programs and amending / maintaining existing programs: Developing, Coding, amending and testing new and existing Bank programmes critical to the Bank’s operation after the analysis of user requirements.
- Documentation development, amendments and maintenance: Developing or performing amendments to technical system, on-call ‘snag’ and user documentation according to the required standards.
- Software Installation and Library Maintenance: Performing updates to and maintenance of the software library for new and existing software and programs to test Core Banking systems and others. Performing software installation and system implementations into the test and production environments.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
- B.Sc. in Computer Science (Second Class Honours) or the equivalent combination of on the job experience or training in the related field.
- At least two (2) years as a Programmer or equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Two (2) years experience or more with at least one of the following languages: RPG2, RPG/400, COBOL, “C”, FOXPRO, ORACLE, BASIC, UNIX, JAVA, XML, SOAP, WSDL, SQL.
BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES & SKILLS:
- Sound Co-ordination, Multitasking, Organization, Numerical, Investigative, Presentational, Creative, Interpersonal, Written & Oral Communication skills.

The Bank offers an attractive compensation package.
