Positive, pushover, or sarcastic?

Am I positive, a pushover, or sarcastic?

Being positive is a powerful tool that can be used to fight negative behaviour. Your compliments, polite actions, and kind words can transform the most pessimistic manager and change a hostile work environment.

Some people who believe they are being positive but feel as though the tension at the work place is worsening might not actually be doing what they think they are doing.

Don’t confuse being positive with being a pushover or sarcastic

If you believe that being positive means you do everything you are asked to do no matter how degrading it is, then you are being a pushover.

If you think it means insulting your manager “in a nice way”, then you are no different from your mean boss except that you do it sarcastically.

Being positive is not about letting others take advantage of your good nature and it’s not about nicely hurting other people. These qualities only add fuel to fire because a mean person enjoys hurting a helpless pushover and also loves fighting with an armed attacker. Many people find themselves stuck in a rut at work for a very long time.

What being positive means

Being positive means making the best out of every situation by looking for a positive way to deal with it. Start working on your dreams that you came with to the workplace. If your dream is to start your own business or work for another company  then you should see your job as the stepping stone you would need to do so.

Channel all your energy into this project, keep your goal in mind when you face your manager and you will be smiling from ear to ear even when you are asked to do extra work on your birthday.

If however the company you currently work for is part of your dream, but with a higher position, then build a genuine relationship with the people who are responsible for giving you that position. Speak to them about life in general by discussing matters of the world that would affect people at their level.

Do so by spending more time learning about the things you want and less time focussing on the things you don’t want. This strategy is guaranteed to bring the success you desire.
