ECCE Administrator/Teacher

Job Summary:

The ECCE Administrator/Teacher carries management and leadership responsibilities for the ECCE Centre in accordance with the policies of the Ministry of Education. The incumbent will be required to plan the programme of activities for centres to which he/she is assigned and must ensure the effective delivery of the ECCE Curriculum.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

– Carries management and leadership responsibilities for ECCE Centres.
– Plans the programme of activities of the Centres in accordance with Ministry of Education’s policy.
– Ensures the effective delivery of the Curriculum.
– Builds a conducive and supportive environment for ECCE through the involvement of staff, parents and local board/support team meetings.
– Serves as onsite professional development trainer.
– Provides support to professional development sessions conducted at the Centres.
– Ensures the physical safety of the children at the Centres.
– Allocates the duties and responsibilities for members of staff of the Centre (teaching and non-teaching).
– Ensures the proper use of materials and equipment in the Centres.
– Monitors and provides records as determined by the Ministry of Education.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

– Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education.
– Minimum of eight (8) years’ experience in the field of ECCE.
– Recognized Certificate in Administration and Management of ECCE Centres will be an asset.
– Considerable experience in curriculum development and implementation – ECCE.
OR
– Any equivalent combination of experience, certification and training.

ECCE Teacher

JOB SUMMARY:

The incumbent will be required to plan and evaluate activities with respect to the needs of children in his/her care. His/her duties include preparing materials and teaching aids, maintaining records and supervising ECCE Teacher Assistants/Teaching Assistants.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

– Plans activities using a variety of materials and equipment to improve the social, emotional, physical, creative and intellectual development of children three (3) and under five (5) year old.
– Evaluates the needs of individual children in his/her care and prepare activity plans to meet those needs.
– Prepares materials and teaching aids as necessary.
– Maintains records as required.
– Supervises ECCE Teacher Assistants/Teaching Assistants.
– Attends staff, parents’ and Board /Support Team meetings.
– Assists in general duties as required from time to time to maintain the efficient operation of the ECCE Centre.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

– Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education.
– Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in the field of ECCE.
– Experience in curriculum development and implementation at Classroom level – ECCE.

ECCE Teacher Assistant

JOB SUMMARY:

Provides assistance to the ECCE Teacher in the day to day teaching/learning activities for three (3) and four (4) year old children at ECCE Centres in Trinidad.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

– Assists with planning activities using a variety of materials and equipment to improve the social, emotional, physical, creative, spiritual and intellectual development of children three (3) to under five (5) years of age.
– Assists in evaluating the needs of individual children and prepares activity plans to meet those needs.
– Prepares materials and teaching aids as necessary.
– Assists with record keeping as required.
– Assists aides and volunteers who may visit the Centre on internship or for professional development sessions.
– Participates in professional development programmes, geared towards their own personal and professional development.
– Assist in general duties as required from time to time to maintain the efficient operations of the ECCE Centre.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

– Five (5) subjects (including English A and Mathematics) – CXC General Proficiency, GCE or equivalent
– Professional Certification (inclusive of Practicum) obtained from School of Education (UWI), SERVOL or School of Continuing Studies (UWI).
OR
– Any other training agency that is satisfactorily assessed.
– Minimum of three (3) years experience in the field of Early Childhood Education.
