      JOB TITLE: TRANSPORT COORDINATOR

      JOB SUMMARY:                           
      Provide senior-level leadership and direction, coordinating with customers and other managers to ensure customer’s expectations are met, costs are controlled, equipment is well maintained, the appearance of drivers, trucks, and trailers are up to our standards.

      REPORTS TO:                                
      Director of Logistics, Operations Manager and Transport Team Lead

      SUPERVISION GIVEN TO:     
      Drivers/Heavy Equipment Operators, Banks Men/Riggers and Lorry Men

      DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

      • Adhere to all LAING Company Policies and Procedures
      • Ensures all activity and customer transactions are performed within safety policies
      • Maintain and monitor daily log of drivers and Dispatch System, and maintains contact with drivers including recording arrival/departure times at customers, lunch breaks, and route completions.
      • Determine/understand customer equipment needs through questioning and qualifying; provides alternative equipment suggestions to customers if appropriate based upon information obtained using an extensive knowledge of all equipment available
      • Communicate estimated delivery dates/times to customers
      • Liaise with LAING Approved Third Party Providers for Outsourced Services Requested
      • Handles customer complaints in a professional manner in order to resolve the complaint to the satisfaction of the customer and LAING
      • Manage various customer delivery expectations to ensure each customers- needs are met
      • Receives incoming updates from drivers.
      • Assign loads – Create and monitor driver’s schedules
      • Monitor progress of drivers (via mobile and GPS) and assess the need for assistance or identify other possible route concerns to ensure timely completion of routes.
      • Monitor GPS for all Laing equipment
      • Summarize employee attendance, late coming, sick leave and submit report to Transport Logistics Administrator
      • Submit log with all signed Delivery Tickets & Cargo Manifests to Transport Logistics Administrator
      • Ensuring the Transport Daily Log is updated as soon as the truck departs the yard
      • Ensuring all Transport tickets are received, signed and entered in the log
      • Perform daily truck inspections in accordance with company standards and inspect assets (trucks and equipment) when they depart and return to the compound.
      • Communicate and Liaise with the Mechanical Department on Equipment Downtime for Scheduled Maintenance and Fleet Optimization
      • Ensure all Equipment is safe and Certification current
      • Handle heavy volume of telephone calls
      • Receives, routes (journey management), and analyses information for the Transport department.
      • Report problems to supervisor in a timely and accurate manner and follow-up to ensure problem resolution
      • Records details of calls in phone log
      • May deliver and pick up equipment
      • Ensure driver receives all necessary paperwork including invoices, manifests, etc.
      • Assist with sourcing of Police Escort and payment for service
      • Attend offsite visits for special projects
      • Other duties as assigned by Manager
      • Keep co-workers informed of daily activities

      MINIMUM EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING

      • High school diploma or general equivalency degree required, four year college degree preferred
      • 2-4 years previous related experience
      • Ability to deal with problems involving multiple variables in changing pressure-filled situations
      • Excellent mathematical and reading skills.
      • Good verbal and written communication skills.
      • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple deadlines.
      • Ability to work well with both internal and external customers.
      • Proficient in Microsoft Office
      • Previously demonstrated proficiency with routing/logistics software
      • Strong organizational skills.
      • Certificate of Character (6 months old)
      • Must have PLEA Passport
      • 8 point drug test (3months)
      • Respiratory Fit Test

      LINE CLEARING MAINTENANCE MANAGER

      Job Summary

      This is highly visible and responsible work in scheduling, coordinating, and inspecting electrical power line clearance and vegetation management (mowing, tree trimming and vine removal) activities for the Electric Utility. Assignments are received in the form of written work orders, drawings, and oral instructions, as well as by field inspections. Work is performed in accordance with policies and directives established by the department.

      ESSENTIAL AND OTHER IMPORTANT JOB DUTIES

      Essential Duties

      • Key liaison between Electricity Utility and LAING management
      • Prepare annual budgets and manage cost
      • Respond to all customer complaints and concerns of the commission
      • Arrange acquisition of all capital and fixed assets
      • Review progress of projects in relation to budgets
      • Coordinate recruitment of staff
      • Arrange training and orientation
      • Promote new business generation
      • Follow-up and assist with collection of receivables
      • Review and approve weekly payroll
      • Attend site visits and meetings
      • Review employee’s attendance and punctuality
      • Studies drawings, specifications and work orders to effectively determine and lay out work for the utility contractor crews.
      • Enforces necessary safety precautions for the crews, the Electric Utility personnel, and the public.
      • Assists in developing annual priority right-of-way maintenance schedule for entire electric system, which includes developing detailed system tree trimming maps.
      • Performs other duties as required.
      • Keeps time and work records necessary for invoicing purposes.

      DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

      Knowledge, Abilities and Skills

      • Thorough knowledge of and familiarity with the key principles and practices of electric power line construction, operation and maintenance, as well as NESC, OSHA and applicable insurance requirements.
      • Knowledge of methods and tools, and the occupational hazards of right-of-way maintenance and line work (clearance, construction and operation).
      • Complete knowledge of the operation of trucks, winches, derricks, aerial bucket units, and other equipment and tools used in this work.
      • Ability to communicate effectively with the general public in securing governmental permits relative to trimming or removal of trees.
      • Ability to control emergency situations during storms or other conditions.
      • Ability to keep records, prepare progress reports, and enforce/interpret contracts for applicable goods and services.
      • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as necessitated by the work.
      • Ability to lead and direct the work activities of others.
      • Good physical condition.
      • Skill in the use of technology, computers and the programs and applications necessary for successful job performance.

      Minimum Training and Experience

      • Possession of a high school diploma or an equivalent recognized certificate and two years experience as a journey level line worker or six years of experience that includes electric utility tree trimming and right-of way maintenance; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
      • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office, Project Management (PM) applications and databases
      • Knowledge of tools, concepts and methodologies of PM
      • Proven experience of participating in projects as project coordinator or project management assistant,
      • Evaluation and report writing
      • Experience of delivering training at a variety of levels
      • Experience in planning and schedule management
      • Valid class 3,4 driver s license
      • Negative drug screen result(s).
