Description
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing support to the operations of the Industrial Relations Service Centre.

The successful candidate will also be required to perform the following duties:-
- Provides guidance on the interpretation of HR Policies, Employee Handbook, Collective Agreement, Managersâ Guide and similar work rules as well as consults with Manager if necessary as well as guides staff in the authorised channels for grievance settlement
- Researches industrial relations issues, such as court judgments, collective bargaining trends/settlements/agreements, labour legislation and similar matters and makes recommendations to Manager
- Provides assistance with collective bargaining process, which includes assisting in research of data for proposals, attending negotiations, reviewing collating and preparing information/documentation for correctness, handling of matters for the printing of collective agreement booklets as well as other booklets/brochures as required,
- Reviews HR policies and assist in the development of such policies
- Assists in the review of the Unitâs processes and makes recommendations to the Manager
- Provides information on labour legislation and statutory regulations for the effective handling of industrial relations matters and keeps abreast of new/amendments, also consults with Manager as necessary
- Investigates complaints, grievances and Union matters to determine validity and attends to such issues which includes making recommendations for approval and the effective resolution in a timely manner
- Coordinates disciplinary matters which involve assisting in reviewing investigative reports, crystallizing disciplinary charges and drafting disciplinary letters, reviewing, collating and preparing related documentation, facilitating meetings/hearings, preparing related recommendatory reports in consultation with the Manager, while ensuring implementation and documentation of discipline and any necessary action
- Represents the Bank at conciliatory meetings, court hearings and other meetings as required, including preparing statement of case and other evidence or preparatory documentation
- Provides input as necessary to representing attorneys in court hearings and other employee litigation matters as well as recording and preparing notes of the proceedings as required
- Liaises with attorneys and Industrial Relations practitioners as required
- Supports the Managers in handling industrial relations matters
- Completes special projects and other related activities as assigned by the Manager
The ideal candidate for this assignment should possess the following:-Â
- A Bachelorâs Degree in Industrial Relations or Human Resource Management or a related field from a recognized professional body and three (3) years in Industrial Relations or a Human Resources environment particularly in a unionized environment
- Strong supervisory, conflict resolution, interpersonal and team building skills
- Strong oral and written communication, time management and presentation skills
- Analytical, conceptual, research, negotiating and problem solving skills
- Ability to use initiative, work independently and exercise sound judgment
- Ability to maintain utmost confidentiality and read, analyze interpret and use complex documents and forms
- In-depth knowledge of Collective Agreement, Human Resources Polices and Employee Handbook
- In-depth knowledge of existing Labour Legislation
