Mastercard and TRIBE Carnival partnership offers you priceless opportunities

“We are … proud to be the official partner of TRIBE Carnival … Mastercard intends to continue to support culture, music, entertainment, and gastronomy happenings in Trinidad and Tobago.”

Danielle Dumas, Director of Business Development at Mastercard’s Caribbean Division talks about Mastercard’s partnership with TRIBE Carnival as the official payment portal for the band.

Connecting cardholders to their passions

Music and culture are a part of the fabric of Mastercard (MC). TRIBE perfectly aligns with our brand’s promise of connecting cardholders to priceless opportunities while promoting Trinidad and Tobago’s most valuable assets–its music, the culture, and the islands as a global tourist destination.

Therefore, this is the second time that we have partnered with Tribe, the first being SunsetWknd and the “launch of carnival” back in July 2022.

Mastercard is committed to bringing new experiences that connect cardholders to their passions, help them pursue deeper levels of happiness, and change them for the better and, even the world around them. All featured on Mastercard’s experiential lifestyle hub Priceless.com, new and regularly updated experiences span passions and the globe.

Mastercard Moments and #PricelessToMe Tour

Passion is the ingredient that allows Mastercard to build an emotional connection with cardholders. Globally, we are reinventing how we connect cardholders to their passions through tailored multisensory experiences that enable them to do more of what they love.

We are therefore proud to be the official partner of TRIBE Carnival, a group that I think we can agree are pioneers of ultimate Carnival experiences in Trinidad and Tobago and across other pockets of the world.

During Carnival week, this partnership saw that MC (and future MC cardholders) had the opportunity to be a part of our “Mastercard Moments and #PricelessToMe Tour” which included surprise/pop-up giveaways for select events and a chance to be on the road with Tribe or Harts and more.

A trusted digital connection

At Mastercard, we believe that our cardholder’s peace of mind is Priceless. Cybersecurity underpins Mastercard’s trusted global network – securing more than 110 billion transactions a year and supplying the means to secure businesses and communities.

As the world has moved into digital, we need to take one of the top existential threats of our time to secure our cyber-physical world from fraudulent activity, that´s why we are focussed on building an ecosystem where every digital connection becomes a trusted one.

Safer, faster, and more efficient payment experiences

As a leader in the payment industry, Mastercard is committed to developing the global and regional technology infrastructure and brand strength to positively impact society with safer, faster, and more efficient payment experiences.

One way to lead this industry is by developing data to fuel our services and the client experience. The Mastercard Economic Institute is one way to stay up to date.

The institute is led by a collective of industry experts bringing a range of experience and expertise to help us and our clients to take smarter decisions for better outcomes. With a focus on our customers and their needs, we have developed a highly curated and thoughtful suite of services. Each service area takes advantage of our data and technology, as well as our expertise and experience.

For example, every year the New Payments Index annually evaluates consumer behaviour concerning emerging payment methods. The most recent edition showed how increasingly Latin Americans are turning to technology to conduct their financial transactions and this trend is expected to continue to rise, yet when deciding which payment method to use, they prioritise security.

Improving the digital payment landscape in Trinidad and Tobago

With an average of 50% of the people in the Caribbean region either unbanked or underbanked and with 80% of commercial transactions in Latin America and the Caribbean made via cash due to a lack of access to the banking system, our investments in major events and activities such as carnival will help us to raise awareness about the benefits of “cashless” and supporting the drive toward, and access to technology-based payment solutions.

While cards have been the backbone of Mastercard’s business for decades and remain critical today, we have more options to offer to continue to improve the digital payment landscape in Trinidad and Tobago.

Meaning, Mastercard can connect any payer to payees, regardless of whether the parties are using cards, bank accounts, mobile wallets, or other forms of payments. Mastercard wants to continue to increase the acceptance of e-commerce and contactless payments in the islands by continuing to make deep investments in technology and valuable partnerships across the ecosystem, both with traditional financial institutions and fintech up-and-comers.

Our resilient and secure network underpinned these innovations and is bolstered by services that bring personalised experiences and more peace of mind to consumers and businesses. Whether buying online or in person, shopping for the products and services we all need safely has always been challenging.

Moving forward, Mastercard intends to continue to support culture, music, entertainment, and gastronomy happenings in Trinidad and Tobago because it is committed to connecting people to their passions and providing #Priceless Experiences.

In November 2022, Mastercard launched its Everyday Value Program, which grants Mastercard cardholders of participating financial institutions monthly cash-back benefits each time they meet a required purchase threshold at key merchants: Massy, Unipet, Superpharm, Buzo and Chaud Café. This allows them to connect with what they love and care about by actively prioritising what´s Priceless™ to them.
