Try a fruit salad with five fingers or starfruit

Star fruit, five fingers or carambola is in season now. It makes a very nice chow or tastes great on its own when ripened. Here is a fruit salad recipe using this local favourite that will help you stay away from those breakfast sausages during Lent.

Making Five Fingers Breakfast Fruit Salad

 Ingredients

2 large five fingers fruit or star fruit

1 pineapple

1 small paw paw/papaya

3 bananas

1 table spoon sugar

1 lime

Directions

Slice five fingers fruit on short side to make several small stars.

Dice pineapple, paw paw and bananas, then mix together in a large bowl.

Squeeze lime in a separate bowl, mix in sugar and stir until it is dissolved.

Pour the lime and sugar mixture over the fruits and toss gently.

Serve Five Fingers Fruit Salad for breakfast or have it as a snack.
