Compliance Officer – Job ID# 13781

OBJECTIVE

The Compliance Officer provides support to the Manager, Governance and Compliance and/or Head, Compliance (or such persons from time to time responsible for the delivery of Compliance services and support), in the documentation, implementation, maintenance and monitoring of the Group-wide Compliance Framework.

FUNCTIONS

• Supports the documentation and maintenance of an up-to-date Compliance Repository and Compliance Framework for the NGC Group in order to meet the obligations and requirements of the Division and Group.
• Supports the preparation of a Compliance Report which accords with the legal, regulatory, policy/procedural, statutory and state requirements of the NGC Group and with the submission of the Compliance Report to the Audit Sub-Committee of the Board.
• Assists with the conduct of analytics on compliance data and the generation of appropriate reporting to be distributed to the Unit heads, the Leadership Team and/or Audit Committee, or such other persons, as directed.
• Assists, as required, with the monitoring/control systems aligned to NGC’s/NGC Group’s compliance requirements.
• Assists with the documentation and implementation of procedures, processes and standards for Units which align with Compliance Framework.
• Supports the documentation, implementation, maintenance and monitoring of compliance policies and procedures, as and when required and assists with training of NGC Group employees as and when required.
• Together with the Corporate Secretariat Services Officer I (or equivalent position), assists with the conduct of Compliance Reviews as and where required throughout the NGC Group, in accordance with the established procedures for same.
• Provides assistance to ensure that that the Compliance Report and other compliance mechanisms are made available, wherever possible, through electronic means.
• Assists with the preparation of reports for the consideration of the Leadership Team and the Audit Committee on the compliance (or non-compliance) of NGC, the NGC Group and any Units within the Group, as required, with applicable laws, regulations, statutory and state guidelines, applicable standards and NGC/Group policies, procedures or processes.
• Maintains all compliance-related records and ensures that they are appropriately managed and secured in accordance with legal/retention policy requirements and the Company’s policy of confidentiality and security of critical corporate records and proprietary information.
• Assists with the preparation and dispatch of responses to requests for information from third parties, Shareholders, the Integrity Commission, Line Ministry, External Auditors and Executive Management or such other parties as shall be required.
• Assists with the preparation and dispatch, within required timelines, of all ministerial reports related to the compliance function, for the review and approval of the Manager, Governance and Compliance and/or Head, Compliance.
• Supports the development of Group compliance-related policies and provides training to NGC Group employees on said policies and procedures related to compliance requirements.
• Provides assistance in the conduct of research in relation to the laws, regulations, manuals, guidelines and principles binding on the NGC Group and the best practice/international standards to support the Compliance Framework.
• Generally provides support with compliance policy development or documentation and matters of a compliance nature including data analysis, compliance monitoring and reporting.
• Executes any other related duties as assigned, competently and effectively.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

The minimum requirements for the position are:

• A First Degree in Law, Accounting, Business or equivalent.
• Diploma in Law or Auditing experience/qualification would be an asset.
• Professional Compliance Certification would be an asset.
• A minimum of four (4) years’ experience in a similar position
• Experience in the oil and gas industry
