Luxe Health At Home offers the best medical care at your convenience

Dr Josanne Lochan, founder of Luxe Health At Home, shares insights on the convenient medical services offered by her company to persons at home or work in Trinidad:

Luxe Health At Home was born after identifying the countless challenges within the healthcare system of both Trinidad and Tobago as well as Jamaica.

Some of these challenges include long waiting times, inconvenient appointment dates, traffic to and from the doctor’s office, relatives taking excessive time off work to assist patients with doctor’s visits and transportation to and from the doctor’s office, to name a few.

Redefining convenience

We are in 2023, as such, doctor’s visits should present less friction than it currently entails. Luxe Health At Home seeks to provide more options available in the current healthcare system. Many patients can be treated in the comfort and privacy of their own home.

We are redefining convenience by offering home and workplace/office visits. You select the date and time. We also offer early and late appointments 6:30 am and 7:00 pm respectively.

Studied and worked in T&T and Jamaica

I have a first degree in Nutritional Sciences, Sport Nutrition and Psychology which I read for at The University of the West Indies, St Augustine Campus.

The second degree I read for is a Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) at The University of the West Indies, Mona Campus, Jamaica.

I lived in Jamaica for 7 years studying, then worked at Kingston Public Hospital before returning to Trinidad and Tobago.

In Trinidad and Tobago, I worked in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and Accident and Emergency Departments at Sangre Grande Hospital. Currently, I practice as a General Practitioner with a Gynaecology interest.

Experiences with patients and further plans to serve them

Some of the best consultations I enjoy would be with female patients who either never had a Pap smear or had a horrible experience with same.  I enjoy making their present experience less intimidating and traumatic.

I also enjoy when I can optimise my patient’s health, for example, one of my recent elderly patients was on hyperlipidemia and hypertensive medication. Her dietary habits were adjusted, and her recent blood investigations indicated she could discontinue her current medication.

Some of the most frustrating experiences I have are with patients who have a lifestyle related medical condition for example, type 2 diabetes mellitus, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) or Obesity.

Many of these patients refuse to take the necessary responsibility to assist the physician with the management of their medical conditions. Unfortunately, many of these patients reach an early death because of this lack of responsibility.

Eventually, we would like to offer Luxe Ambulance Services to serve patients.
