PHARMACIST II
The incumbent will be responsible for the operations of a dispensary in a moderate-sized hospital or health centre(s). To perform dispensary duties where work involves a variety of duties including supervision of ordering, issuing and maintenance of an adequate supply of stocks.
Main Responsibilities:
- Ensures prescription fulfils legal requirements as to content e.g. patient’s name, doctor’s signature, etc.
- Ensures prescriptions are valid, e.g. not counterfeit, not expired etc.
- Ensures medicines do not pose a direct danger to patient as a result of over dosage.
- Ensures medicines do not pose an indirect danger to the patient as a result of interaction among those prescribed, as well as others the patient may have been taking.
- Ensures medicines do not pose indirect danger to the patient as a result of his/her medical conditions, e.g. pregnancy, other existing illness.
- Ensures medicines do not pose an indirect danger to the patient by reason of food interactions.
- Writes and affix labels for medicine packages.
- Where medications are not available, ensure that patients has approved document to purchase, or otherwise access such medication at another institution.
- Where an antibiotic, narcotic or controlled drug is dispensed, ensure that the records are updated.
- Reviews requests from Department.
- Ensures medicines requested are valid supplies for that particular department.
- Inspects department to facilitate proper stock control, e.g. prevent overstocking, expiration etc.
- Compounds specific preparations for immediate filling of prescriptions as necessary.
- Counsels patients on correct use of medications, desired effects and side effects.
- Procures pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceuticals from NIPDEC including writing requisitions and placement of phone calls and faxing order to suppliers.
- Complies listings of all expired or obsolete items on required forms for destruction after audit.
- Organises regular education seminars for benefit of patients and staff.
- Prepares list of items currently available at pharmacy to doctors on a weekly basis.
- Maintains a statistical record of number of prescriptions filed and compile date of prescriptions on a quarterly basis.
- Prepares daily statistics for quarterly submission to the organisational relationship and the Ministry of Health.
- Issues bulk stores to various section of the Department as necessary.
- Ensures that the laws are complied with (Food & Drug Act, Antibiotic Act, Dangerous Drugs Act and Pharmacy Board Act).
- Evaluates and enhance internal controls to improve operational efficiency.
Minimum Qualifications, Training and Experience:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmacy from a recognized University.
- Current practicing certificate from the Pharmacy Board of Trinidad and Tobago.
- Experience in the field for a least three (3) years working knowledge in procuring supplies and inventory control.

Main Responsibilities
- Counsels patients on the usage and effective use of all medication.

- Effectively manages the performance of subordinate staff members.
Minimum Qualifications, Requirements and Experience:

- Completion of pre-registered pharmacy training.
- Registration with the Pharmacy Board of Trinidad and Tobago.

Main Responsibilities:
- Demonstrates and articulates sound clinical reasoning in synthesizing complex evaluation data, identifies diagnosis and develops a comprehensive plan of care.
- Demonstrates skill in selecting and providing a wide range of intervention strategies and monitor their effectiveness.
- Understands the role of Physiotherapy in the context of the patients’ age, total needs, perspective and environment.
- Performs age appropriate competency skills in area of practice and with respect to individual patient problems.
- Follows intervention protocols and alter plan of care appropriately.
- Discharges patient when goals have been met or medical necessity is no longer warranted as an intervention.
- Establishes provisions for continuing services/follow up as needed.
- Ensures that patient/family understands when and how to access further intervention.
- Meets competency skills for evaluations in area of practice.
- Consistently meets patient care productivity standard as established for job classification.

- Utilises appropriate methods and materials for effective learning, monitoring response to education, and adapting program appropriately.
- Ensures documentation is timely, legible and efficient and meets the profession and department’s documentation standards.
- Ensures oral reporting is clear, relevant and timely.
- Performs all required data collection for the department accurately and within expected time frame.
- Provides outreach and learning activities as requested which may include: in-services on related topics, generating referrals and interacting with volunteers or visitors.
Minimum Qualifications, Training and Experience:
- Training as evidenced by the possession of Bachelors or Masters’ Degree in Physical Therapy, entry level Doctor of Physical Therapy from an accredited university or college.
- Current registration with the Council for Professions Related to Medicine – Physiotherapists’ Board.
