Raisin Oat Bread

Ingredients

– 1 1/2 cups rolled oats

– 1 1/2 cups boiling water

– 1/2 cup warm milk

– 1 teaspoon salt

– 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast

– 1 cup raisins

Raisin Oat Bread

Instructions

1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the rolled oats and boiling water. Let them sit for about 20 minutes to soften and cool down.

2. In a separate small bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm milk and let it sit for 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.

3. To the oat mixture, add the honey, melted butter, and salt. Stir well to combine.

4. Add the yeast mixture to the oat mixture and stir until well incorporated.

5. Gradually add the flour, one cup at a time, stirring well after each addition. When the dough becomes too stiff to stir, turn it out onto a lightly floured surface.

6. Knead the dough for about 5-8 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic. Add more flour if needed, but be careful not to add too much, as it can make the bread dense.

8. Once the dough has risen, punch it down to release the air and knead in the raisins until they are evenly distributed.

9. Shape the dough into a loaf and place it in a greased 9×5-inch loaf pan. Cover the pan again and let it rise for another 30-45 minutes, or until it has risen just above the rim of the pan.

10. Preheat your oven to 350Ā°F (175Ā°C).

11. Bake the bread in the preheated oven for about 35-40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the bread sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.

12. Remove the bread from the oven and let it cool in the pan for a few minutes. Then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.
