Job Description
The Job Holder provides leadership and management for the team or department of Social Workers and the Victim and Witness Support Unit. They are responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality social work services, within a specific area like child welfare, adult services, or a broader social care setting. This role involves strategic planning, resource management, performance management, staff development, and maintaining professional standards.
Key and Critical Responsibilities
- Oversee the clinical and administrative service delivery of the Police Social Work Unit and the Victim and Witness Support Unit.
- Co-ordinate the delivery of mental health services to promote the well-being of police officers and civilians within the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service.
- Provide strategic guidance for the Victim and Witness Support Unit and the Police Social Work Unit in accordance with the strategic goals of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service.
- Co-ordinate and provide training to Police Officers in areas of Victim and Witness.
- Make operational improvements for more efficient and effective service delivery of the Victim and Witness and Social Support Unit.
- Develop and implement policies and procedure to meet the Trinidad and Tobago Polices Service vision for the Police Social Work Unit and the Victim and Witness Support Unit.
- Design and deliver initiatives in the areas of victims’ service and reducing the risks of crime victimization to various populations.
- Develop programmes to manage crisis and trauma among staff of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service.
- Make public presentations to external agencies regarding services to deal with victims and witnesses of crime.
- Meet with stakeholders, local and otherwise, to develop protocols and enhance services that address the needs of the public and the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service community.
- Determine appropriate service levels for the Victim and Witness Support Unit and the Police Social Work Unit.
- Any other related duties assigned by the Commissioner of Police as it relates to the position.
