      Chief Information Officer

      Caribbean Airlines is seeking an experienced and qualified Chief Information Officer (CIO) accountable for defining and delivering IT strategy and capabilities across the enterprise including infrastructure engineering, network engineering, resilience engineering, information security, and end-user technical services.

      The CIO is a crucial contributor to the company’s strategy and planning process, including leading elements of our digital transformation. The individual will be responsible both for IT operations and for technology and digital innovation. It is critical for the CIO to build strong and productive relationships with all business unit leaders, acting as a true partner and making IT a business enabler.

      KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

      The CIO will be responsible for giving oversight and direction to IT and business leaders on strategy, standards, and opportunities for shared services, rationalization opportunities and economies of scale.

      The CIO will support transformation while ensuring a stable and scalable architecture through:

      • Infrastructure Management including Stability Assessments and Recommendations.
      • Cloud strategies and/or Emerging Infrastructure (IAAS, PAAS, SAAS, etc.)
      • Partner-hosted Managed Cloud Platforms
      • On-premise Enterprise Platform Management & Support
      • Dev/Ops Coordination and Integration with Application Development
      • Network Management including Optimization, Failover, and Security



      EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

      • Minimum ten years’ experience in various information technology and information management.
      • Minimum three years’ executive-level experience preferred
      • A Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering or a related field is required. A Masters degree is preferred.
      • ITIL v3 professional certification will be an asset
      • IT leadership experience in a highly regulated and customer environment.
      • Experience managing multiple large outsourcing vendors.
      • Experience in a multi-jurisdictional and cultural structure with matrixed leadership responsibilities.
      • P&L leadership experience and strong financial background is required.
      • Solid understanding of information computing, software development and software design, including:
        • databases, data dictionaries, threading
        •  programming frameworks and web technologies
        • web server architectures, web services, front end, back end frameworks, multiprocessing, multitenancy, service-oriented architecture, queuing and load-sharing technology as needed
        • data visualization platforms (Tableau etc.)

      4. Influence and persuasion – Able to influence and motivate others to take a specific course of action at the most senior level of the company, and at all levels throughout the organisation
      5. Communication – Develop and execute communication strategies for a diverse workforce and manage relationships to accomplish company goals, delivering difficult or unpopular messages with clarity and diplomacy
      6. Leadership – Able to persuade, convince, influence, and motivate others to take a specific course of action which positively supports CAL’s overall business strategy, vision and culture. Ensure that actions are consistent with what is said that is, ability to “walk the talk”. Make critical, tough and appropriate decisions in difficult or ambiguous situations. Deadline focused and proactive.
      7. Solid understanding of data analysis, budgeting and business operations with background in designing/developing IT systems and planning IT implementation
      8. Risk Management – Able to determine the extent of risk exposure and the best method of handling same
      9. Governance Compliance – Demonstrate and behave in accordance with company’s policies, rules and regulations
      10. Innovation – Display original thinking and creativity; meet challenges in a resourceful manner; generate suggestions for improving work and systems.
      11. Superior analytical and problem-solving capabilities
