CXC Exam Deferrals: Sit June 2021 exams in January 2022

Under normal circumstances, exams are stressful. Due to the global pandemic and volcano in St Vincent, 2020 and 2021 have amped up the stress to a much higher level. The Caribbean Examination Council (CXC) has acknowledged this fact. It has instituted an official exam deferral policy that is free of charge for all registered candidates. Students are given the opportunity to request that they defer sitting the exam from June 2021 to January 2022. The deadline is May 1st, 2021. CXC has announced that CSEC and CAPE Exam Deferrals 2021 could be accommodated as follows:

1. Students attending schools should make a request to their principal.

2. Private Candidates should contact their local registrar.

Problems with local registrar for CXC exam deferrals

In Trinidad and Tobago, several private candidates have complained that they are getting problems contacting the local registrar. Many frustrated readers have reached out to Sweet TnT Magazine stating that there does not seem to be a way to actually defer these exams. Plus, the deadline date does not give students much time. This article addresses the issues these students are facing and the solutions to overcome them. For those who are experiencing problems deferring their exams, see advice below.

Email not working

Students have indicated that emails do not seem to be working, and calls to the Ministry of Education seem to go unanswered. Added to that, going to the Ministry’s Head Office is out the question. This is due to the recent spike in COVID-19 infections in surrounding offices and the discovery of the more virulent “Brazilian Strain”.

Valid email address – localregistrar@moe.gov.tt

On behalf of our readers, we ventured into Port-of-Spain and we were provided with the following email which seems to be working – localregistrar@moe.gov.tt.

We suggest that you enclose all relevant information i.e. Birth Certificate PIN, copies of Birth Certificate, I.D. , relevant receipts, subjects to be deferred and student I.D. number. This is to ensure that Ministry of Education officials can accurately deal with your situation.

To all the students good luck on your various exams.
