By Darius Soyer. Sony released its first PlayStation in 1994 and has been a massive hit ever since, creating millions of gamers and fond memories that shall last a lifetime. It has been a little over 8 years since the PS4 has been released. Its successor has even come out in 2020, but I still use my PS4 years later. Here are 5 reasons why I still use my PS4 since Sony released the PS5.
5 Reasons I still use my PS4 since the release of PS5
Support
After all these years of operation and the successor being out for a little over 1 year, Sony still supports the PlayStation 4 keeping customers satisfied with patches and new game releases. Most modern titles are still being released on the PS4 with only a handful being true next-gen titles. This means they will only have a PS5 release.
Developers are continuing to provide updates and fixes to games on the PS4 keeping players well entertained and immersed in the Sony ecosystem without having to make a new commitment to another console purchase just yet. Sony has even teamed up with Discord recently. It has integrated a feature allowing you to see what your friends are playing on the PlayStation network using Discord.
PS5 availability
The PS5 is the next-gen console in Sony’s arsenal but it makes it hard to switch over to the console considering it’s practically never available due to low supply (global chip shortage) and high demand. The PS5 sells out almost instantly when it is placed back in stock at retailers.
Die-hard customers spend their time hunting down any stock that appears whether online or at physical retailers. It is still possible to get yourself a PS4 to satisfy your needs and keep you occupied until you can actually make the switch.
Scalpers
If you go on any market place you can see that the PS5 is still being sold abundantly but they are not going for the price originally intended. Scalpers (people who buy and resell hard-to-get items for high profit) are calling for ludicrous prices on marketplaces like eBay.
With scalpers buying large amounts of PS5 stock, it is almost a deterrent to even search for a new console. The PS5 is good but not worth paying such a premium when you can get similar results to hold you off temporarily with the PS4.
Comfortable
After so many years of using the PS4, it has made me complacent and absolutely happy with what I have. The PS4 has grown close to me and it has caused me to have fond memories that I am not ready to part from.
There is nothing like getting your new console and trying it out for the first time. I still remember the day I got the PS4 and it’s just not easy after using it for so long to let it fade away like a distant memory.
Multi-purpose
The PS4 is not just for playing video games so even when I don’t feel like gaming it still comes to great use to do things that I don’t need to upgrade to do. An example is the PS4 is a great device on which to consume content. In an environment where you don’t have things like an Amazon Fire Stick or a smart TV, the PS4 is a great substitution.
You can use apps like YouTube, Disney+ and Prime Video from the console with many more options. The console can play your music, videos and show your pictures directly off of things like your flash drive or phone. The PS4 also helps you to connect with friends or family through the use of text or voice chat.
In conclusion
The PS4 is still a great console and it definitely does not need to be phased out in place of the PS5 just yet. It is still supported, available, affordable, comfortable and able to suit your many needs. So, if you don’t need a PS5, continue to use your PS4 and have a blast.
