By Nadia Ali. It’s a New Year and people everywhere are busy making New Year resolutions. Some want to lose weight, others want to stop a bad habit. There are a few things that you can benefit from if you just make a pledge to do these five simple things:
Let go of toxicity
The word toxicity in this case refers to harmful thoughts and actions. Things like being manipulative, being selfish, thinking you are always right tend to impact negatively on those around you and your life. In the New Year focus on putting goodness into the world.
Let go of waste
Waste can apply to waste of money, waste of time and solid waste. Be mindful of your consumer consumption. In the New Year, when you consume something think about waste reduction and be environmentally responsible. As for wasting your time – life is short.
Let go of small things
There are a handful of small things we can all list that bother us on a regular basis. A prime example is the weekday morning traffic jam. It frustrates, irritates and makes you think negatively about life. In the New Year, don’t lose sight of what’s important. You have a job that pays the bills, a roof over your head, three square meals, and/or kids who need to get to school.
Let go of passivity
Do you feel like last year just passed you by without much change to your life? This year take control of your life, get off the fence and start making a difference. In the words of Michael Jackson, “Gonna
make a change, for once in my life, it’s gonna feel real good, gonna make a difference gonna make it right.” Don’t just accept defeat.
Let go of anger in the New Year
Do you still avoid people who made you angry? Either forgive them and make amends or simply delete them from your phone and move on. Lose the anger you have stored in your mind and commit to not becoming angry when situations occur. Don’t give into that weakness and watch how much happier and lighter your life will be.
