The truth about Turkish hair transplant clinics

The state of tourism in Turkey is a strange one. It has been on the decline more broadly but the inflow of medical tourists, especially hair transplant tourists, in the country is steadily increasing.

Even two years ago, Turkey’s fastest growing industry was medical tourism, and it continues to grow to this day. You can find a whole list of certified hair transplant clinics in Turkey by Medihair which explains why the country is popular among people who are trying to combat their receding hairline.

Nonetheless, we’ll be diving more into the details of the truth about hair transplant clinics in Turkey and why a large number of people have started flocking to them.

This includes their affordability, the quality of their surgeons and their all-inclusive packages. So, without further ado, let us begin!

What makes Turkish hair transplant clinics so popular

1. The affordability

Almost half of all men over 50 years of age experience male pattern baldness and every 1 in 4 women experiences thinning hair and hair loss.

Still, most people refrain from getting a hair transplant because they have very limited knowledge of the procedure.  While others are deterred from getting treatment after looking at the cost of the procedure in countries like the US and the UK.

For example, in the UK and other European countries, the price of a hair transplant can be upwards of £30,000, making it a non-viable option for the majority of people.

On the other hand, you can get a hair transplant from an experienced surgeon for as little as £2,000 in Turkey.

Also, due to favourable exchange rates of dollars, pounds and euros into TRY, there is a greater incentive for foreign visitors to seek hair transplant treatment in Turkey.

2. The quality of the surgeons

The history of hair transplant in Turkey isn’t the best as due to the increase of hair transplant surgeons, the black market for hair transplant operations has also grown.

Other than that, many hair transplant clinics in the past have used fake reviews to boost their popularity which has resulted in people being disappointed with their actual efforts.

Due to these reasons people became hesitant to visit Turkey for the procedure even though it was significantly cheaper.

Things became so bad that the Turkish government had to intervene. Over the past decade they have provided various incentives to clinics and especially hair transplant surgeons to practise their craft in Turkey.

As a result, competition increased and that resulted in surgeons having to improve their craft further. So much so, that they are now the cream of the crop when it comes to hair transplant surgery.

3. Their all-inclusive packages

To boost their medical tourism industry even further the Turkish government has even started offering all-inclusive packages.

Apart from containing affordable hair transplant surgery, they also contain low-budget travel packages that’ll allow you to roam the country like never before.

For example, clinics have started offering packages as low as £1,500 to 8 to 10 people to come and get their hair transplant performed by technicians.

Even though it is a slightly riskier option to get a hair transplant by assistants or technicians, the cost more than makes up for it.

All in all, it isn’t surprising why a growing number of people are showing a willingness to travel abroad for transplant.

Final thoughts

Throughout the past decade, Turkey has really improved their medical industry overall, so it comes as no surprise to us that many people are going to Turkey to get hair transplants or other forms of plastic surgery.

Also, due to the reasons specified above, we believe that Turkey is going to be a mainstay at the top of the ladder in the medical tourism industry for a long time to come.
