Motor Vehicle Supervisor I (Range 39), in the Public Service

Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons for the office of Motor Vehicle Supervisor I (Range 39), in the Public Service.
SALARY: Range 39: $9,578 – $11,622/$12,319 per month (2019).
Applicants who are not public officers are advised that the maximum age for recruitment shall be fifty (50) years in accordance with Regulation 16 (1) of the Civil Service Regulations, made pursuant to the Civil Service Act, Chapter 23:01 of the Revised Laws of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago.
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF WORK:
An employee in this class is responsible for the overall supervision of officers engaged in checking for traffic offences and conducting drivers’ tests. Work involves training and supervising subordinates in methods and procedures of making road checks for violation of applicable licensing laws and regulations. Work includes making recommendations regarding safety measures and approving the issue of “additional” driving permits such as for taxis, trucks, tractors and buses. Work is performed with some independence but advice and guidance in unusual cases are received from a superior who reviews work for conformance with rules and regulations through inspections, reports and general observations.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:
Experience (more than 18 months and up to 4 years) in the field of traffic engineering as may have been gained in other related classes; and training as evidenced by a General Certificate of Education, Ordinary Level with passes in five subjects including English Language and Mathematics; or any equivalent combination of experience and training.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:
Driver’s License entitling holder to drive all makes of vehicles.
