3 teams with odds to win MLB World Series

There is not a lot of good news for MLB so far due to their lockout with the players but there are still odds to win the MLB World Series that we can look at. Today we are going to dissect the top three teams and determine if they have a chance.

There are two things to keep in mind as there are still a lot of quality free agents that will sign once the lockout concludes which could impact these numbers drastically. Also, these odds are according to Bovada so the odds can change depending on the sportsbook you use and when you place a wager.

One of the biggest things to do is be ready for the reveal of the March Madness bracket as there is a lot of betting to be done there as well. Be ready to be active for that as well.

Teams with odds of winning MLB World Series

Los Angeles Dodgers (+700)

The Los Angeles Dodgers are one of the greatest teams on paper as they have Mookie Betts, Trae Turner, Will Smith, Justin Turner, and Cody Bellinger all in their lineup. With the regression expected from the San Francisco Giants and the San Diego Padres not showing what they can do, they should have a relatively easy path to the postseason yet again.

They still have a good amount of starting pitching available on the team despite losing Max Scherzer and Clayton Kershaw as they still have a rotation consisting of Walker Buehler, Trevor Bauer, Julio Urias, David Price, and Andrew Heaney at their disposal right now. Their relief pitching will have Tommy Kahnle to join the fray. They have been a dominant team and should remain that way this upcoming season.

Houston Astros (+850)

The Astros are tied to be the favourites in the American League and this is without a shortstop right now as Carlos Correa is a free agent. They have a very potent lineup that consists of some guys like Jose Altuve, Kyle Tucker, Yordan Alvarez, Alex Bregman, and Michael Brantley. Houston had a team slash line of .263/.333/.449 as a team with all the players that are currently on their roster.

Their bigger question marks are on the pitching side of things as they have a lineup that can cover up a potential loss of Carlos Correa decently enough as you can. They have Justin Verlander returning after missing all of last season as he recovered from Tommy John Surgery and due to the lockout and players not being allowed inside of MLB facilities, we have no update on how Lance McCullers Jr forearm injury has healed. They had some young pitchers step up but their bullpen is a little shaky but if this offense can score, they will be in a good spot.

Toronto Blue Jays (+850)

It’s shocking to see a team that failed to make the playoffs last season this high up but it makes sense to believe in their hype. They have a dominant young core as Vladimir Guerrero Jr, bo Bichette, Cavan Biggio, and Teoscar Hernandez are another year older.

Adding to that is they are expecting to have a full year in their own building and having centre fielder George Springer. They had some big losses already with Marcus Siemian and Cy Young Award winner Robbie Ray so they will need to fill some holes.

Even without the best starting pitcher in the American League, they have a strong rotation still with Jose Berrios, Kevin Gausman, Hyun Jin Ryu, Ale Manoah, Ross Stripling, and Nate Pearson all in the mix. They are developing some bullpen options with guys like Julian Merryweather but they need to add another high-leverage piece to pitch with some experience if they want to be feared a bit more because this team is going to go as far as the pitching staff is going to let them go.
