Legacy of Kain coming to PS5

Crystal Dynamics is circulating a survey, polling what the next Legacy of Kain video game should look and play like.

As this is not the first survey by Crystal Dynamics, the last survey in 2010 resulted in Legacy of Kain: Dead Sun. This name was actually chosen by the survey participants.

Dead Sun was eventually cancelled, but some gameplay footage exists. Dead Sun would have been the last installment in the franchise, and would have been playable on the PlayStation 3, if it was not cancelled just before its scheduled release date.

This is viewed by some that Crystal Dynamics follow through with these questionnaires, and another Legacy of Kain game is in the pipeline. This is an opportunity for fans of the series to tell Crystal Dynamics exactly what game they like to have made.

Reliving the Legacy of Kain

Soul Reaver has actually been removed from the Steam store, with the following message, “Square Enix has temporarily removed this title from sale to work on some important updates. Please check back soon!” leading some to speculate that a possible remaster is currently in the works.

The importance of the community’s input is important as developers have a tendency to make games no one wants to play.

Case in point would be the ill-fated Nosgoth, which was a MMORPG. It lingered in open beta from January 2015 and the servers were eventually shut down on May 31, 2016.

Even though the franchise has an almost cult-like following, they did not gravitate to the idea of an online multiplayer game, as all the other games in the series were all single player games.
