Trinidad and Tobago passport ranking 2026: Schengen visa-free entry retained as Trinidad passport ranks 54th.

Trinidad and Tobago passport ranks 54th globally in 2026

Trinidad and Tobago ranks 54th globally in the 2026 Passport Reports index with a Mobility Score of 140, offering entry to 70.7% of worldwide destinations without a standard prior visa. Holders of the passport enjoy complete 100% regional access across South America and the Caribbean, alongside strong access to Europe and North America.

However, key travel destinations including the United States, the United Kingdom, and Canada continue to require a traditional visa. The overall 2026 performance represents a minor decline from 2025, when the country achieved a score of 144 and ranked 47th globally.

Key Takeaways

  • Trinidad and Tobago ranks 54th globally in 2026 with access to 140 mobility score destinations.
  • Complete regional coverage is maintained across all South American and Caribbean travel destinations.
  • Traditional entry visas remain mandatory for Trinidadian nationals travelling to the United States, United Kingdom, and Canada.
  • The passport score decreased by four points from its 2025 global ranking position.
  • Inbound entry terms show asymmetric reciprocity compared to outbound travel freedoms for foreign nationals.

Global mobility performance in 2026

Passport Reports data put the country at 54th worldwide, with a Mobility Score of 140 and access to 70.7% of destinations through visa-free, simplified-arrival or electronic-authorisation categories.

PORT OF SPAIN – Trinidad and Tobago is ranked 54th globally in 2026, according to the Trinidad and Tobago passport ranking. The report assigns the passport a Mobility Score of 140 and a global access rate of 70.7%. That total is made up of 94 visa-free destinations, 39 destinations available through visa on arrival or other simplified entry arrangements, and seven destinations in the electronic travel authorisation category. A further 58 destinations are listed as requiring a visa before travel.

The category totals reconcile directly with the Mobility Score: 94 visa-free destinations plus 39 simplified-arrival destinations and seven electronic-authorisation destinations equal 140. Visa-free access alone represents 47.5% of the report’s destination set, while the simplified-arrival category accounts for 19.7% and electronic travel authorisations for 3.5%. Destinations requiring a visa account for the remaining 29.3%.

Caribbean and South American access reaches 100%

Regional coverage is strongest in the Caribbean and South America, where the report records 100% total access. In the Caribbean, 86.7% of destinations are visa-free, 6.7% fall under simplified-arrival arrangements and 6.7% under electronic authorisation, with none listed as visa-required. In South America, 91.7% are visa-free and 8.3% fall under simplified-arrival arrangements, again with no destination in the visa-required category.

Europe shows 91.5% total access, including 87.2% visa-free access. North America stands at 86.4%, Africa at 64.8% and Oceania at 64.3%. The figures are lower in Asia at 46.0%, the Middle East at 29.4% and Central Asia at 20.0%. For the Gulf Countries grouping, the report records 0% total access and 100% of destinations as visa-required.

The ranking also places Trinidad and Tobago 10th among 23 North American passports and sixth among 16 Caribbean passports. Within selected international groupings, it is sixth among 14 CARICOM members, 14th among 33 CELAC members, 16th among 56 Commonwealth countries and 18th among 132 G77 countries. It ranks 58th among 159 World Trade Organization members.

Key destinations show contrasting entry conditions

Among the key destinations highlighted in the source report, the Schengen Area is shown as visa-free for Trinidad and Tobago passport holders. The United States, United Kingdom and Canada are each listed as requiring a visa. The wider destination tables also show a range of stay periods and entry procedures: many European destinations are listed with stays of up to 90 days, while several Caribbean and Latin American destinations carry longer periods, including 180-day entries in selected cases.

The seven-destination electronic-authorisation category includes different procedures, such as pre-registration for Côte d’Ivoire and tourist registration for Seychelles. The category covering 39 simplified-entry destinations likewise includes visa on arrival and cases where an eVisa is also available, so it is broader than visa on arrival alone.

2026 ranking follows a four-point mobility decline from 2025

The historical series shows a Mobility Score of 144 and a global rank of 47 in 2025, compared with a score of 140 and rank of 54 in 2026. Earlier entries in the series place the passport at 51st with a score of 144 in 2024, 55th with 142 in 2023 and 52nd with 139 in 2022. The report separately marks the 2020 figure as affected by COVID-19; that year recorded a Mobility Score of 86 and a global rank of 50.

Inbound openness and reciprocity are measured separately

The report distinguishes outbound passport access from the conditions faced by foreign travellers entering the country. In the separate welcoming measure, Trinidad and Tobago ranks 58th among 199 countries. For editors covering inbound travel, Trinidad and Tobago visa requirements refer to entry conditions for holders of other passports travelling to Trinidad and Tobago, rather than the outbound access available to Trinidad and Tobago passport holders.

Reciprocity signals in the report underline that the two directions do not always match. It lists the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United Arab Emirates, Ireland and Japan among countries whose passport holders can enter Trinidad and Tobago through visa-free, electronic-authorisation or simplified-arrival categories while Trinidad and Tobago passport holders are listed as needing a visa for those destinations.

The reverse pattern also appears: countries including Azerbaijan, Armenia, Ethiopia, Haiti, Kosovo, Moldova, Rwanda, Sri Lanka, Tanzania and Uganda are shown as requiring a visa from their passport holders for entry to Trinidad and Tobago while offering Trinidad and Tobago passport holders visa-free, electronic-authorisation or simplified-arrival access.

Taken together, the 2026 data place Trinidad and Tobago in the upper half of the global table, with 140 destinations contributing to its Mobility Score and 58 destinations remaining in the visa-required category. The strongest regional coverage is recorded in the Caribbean and South America, while Europe and North America also show high total access. The historical data indicate a lower score and ranking in 2026 than in 2025, without assigning a cause for the change.
