Warehouse Manager

The Warehouse Manager plans, organizes, and directs the daily workflow of activities in the centralized warehouse and distribution facility including the warehousing and distribution of materials, equipment, food products and other commodities to customers throughout Trinidad and Tobago. The Warehouse Manager is responsible for directing and overseeing a variety of warehouse operations and supervising employees to efficiently operate and maintain the warehouse and distribution facility.
TYPICAL DUTIES
- Plans, directs, and maintains an efficient warehouse operation and assigns, inspects, and evaluates the work Performance of personnel assigned to the warehouse.
- Evaluates and recommends changes in staffing, organizational structure, hours of operation, and other operational efficiencies to improve service levels.
- Organizes and manages incoming and outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of items.
- Administers, supervises, and participates in the review of updates and directs the activities of the inventory control system to determine packaging and delivery requirements.
- Directs the operational flow of orders and their processing for delivery.
- Participates in the evaluation of the efficiency of existing equipment and makes recommendations regarding the repair or replacement of equipment and the design and layout of warehouse facilities in order to maximize material handling efficiency and meet future technological warehouse needs.
- Participates in the development and implementation of security control procedures for warehouse operations.
- Coordinates the surveillance and investigation of stock shortages, deviations from specifications, damages to shipments, delivery of partial shipments and resolves discrepancies by following-up with vendors and freight companies and submitting appropriate reports.
- Serves as a liaison to managers and outside vendors to identify concerns, develop feasible resolutions, and resolve problems.
- Evaluates the work performance of staff and recommends the selection, orientation, retention, training, promotion and discipline of personnel.
- Prepares oral and written reports related to purchasing, warehousing, and distribution activities.
- Implements procedures to monitor the receipt, handling, and distribution of donated materials.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
POSITION HOLDER SHOULD HAVE KNOWLEDGE OF:
- Warehouse methods used in receiving, inspecting, storing, distributing, and delivering large quantities of supplies
- Computerized and manual warehouse record-keeping methods
- Basic data-processing concepts and methods as applied to warehouse and inventory procedures
- Laws, rules, procedures, and practices pertaining to procurement, warehousing, inventory control, and materials distribution
- Regulations and practices pertaining to safe and sanitary storage and handling and distribution of materials, including combustible and perishable items
- Principles of, experience in and / or techniques for:
- warehouse organization and management
- warehouse safety and security
- training, supervision, and personnel development
- instructing, delegating, and evaluating the work of subordinate’s
- counselling, disciplining, and motivating employees
- handling grievances

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Diploma or Certificate in Inventory Management, Warehousing, Supply Chain Management or related discipline
- 5 CXC including English and Math

This role will focus on Production Operations, line Efficiency, Process Improvement, Waste Management and Managing Production Costs. The incumbent will be responsible for the organization, coordination and control of the production of finished goods in the plant.
Responsibilities
- Ensures the efficient production of the right quantity and quality on time and right cost.
- Strives to continuously improve the efficiency and cost of production.
- Contributes to business strategy development.
- Establishes targets for line Efficiency according to specified standards.
- Prepares or directs the preparation of all Standard Operating Procedures and Manuals.
- Ensures the efficient utilization of space and equipment, ensuring quality, budgetary targets and environmental objectives are met.
- Establishes in coordination with the maintenance department the appropriate Preventive Maintenance schedule as well as major overhaul initiatives needed for the effective operations of the plant.
- Coordinates with other department heads to plan Production activities (Planning, Sales, Finished Goods, Purchasing, Raw Materials, and Finance).
- Establishes processes to review production demands, material, quality and maintenance requirements and manpower allocations to estimate best production periods and to issue work assignments.
- Facilitates communication between other departments to solve and prevent future problems, about downtimes, quality issues, raw materials, finished goods transfer, and others.
- Establishes plans and ensures their execution for the management of materials within Production.
- Monitors and puts actions in place to minimize the generation of waste during production operations. Ensures that all waste generated are appropriately identified, recorded and disposed.
- Ensures that all equipment to be used in production are fit for use and follows up any deficiencies with Maintenance.
- Ensures that the quality of goods being produced meets all quality requirements.
- End-to-end accountability for the production cost: raw materials utilized, machine operation, human resources, etc.
Job Requirements
- A Degree in Production or Industrial Engineering Or an equivalent combination of education, experience and training.
- At least 5-7 years at a Supervisory Level in one or several of the following areas: Line Production, Maintenance, Warehousing.
- Experience in beverage packaging is desired.
- Sound engineering skills is required in the areas of machine repairs, maintenance, preventive maintenance, mechatronics.
- Knowledge of motors, controllers, circuits and code for electrical installation.
- The ability to read/interpret electrical & electronic drawings, equipment schematics and mechanical parts book.
- Advanced Microsoft Office Skills and Maximo System experience required.
