DESCRIPTION

Certified heavy equipment operators must be able operate skid steer, telescopic forklift and backhoe.

Job Purpose:

To operate: skid steer/telescopic forklift/backhoe to carry out the operations; uploading and stacking materials/merchandise from incoming shipments and placing them to assigned places; warehouse, building and scaffolding in and around the site as directed

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Handling and moving materials.
• Knowledge of the Teleporter loading requirements; load chart; critical pick ups.
• Effectively communicate to all site personnel.
• Maintain daily logs of equipment usage, maintenance, diesel etc.
• Daily maintenance of equipment.
• Identify, report and correct hazards.
• Support and contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
• Perform task maintaining all health, safety and environmental rules and ensure all work is performed in a manner that enhances the safety of the work environment.
• Safe operation of the equipment

Knowledge and skills:

• Prior working experience on construction projects operating the equipment is required.
• Holder of a valid heavy T driver’s/Operation license.
• Practice good HSSE behaviours.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to organise work and multi task
• Work within the time-frames required to deliver the tasks
• Ability to work independently and self motivated. Team player, able to get along with a diverse group of people towards a common goal.

Working Conditions:

This role will require working outdoors on a construction site. The incumbent must be aware and adhere to any HSSE (Health, Safety, Security and Environment) elements. Weekend work as applicable. There are instances where this role is at a regional location, outside of Trinidad & Tobago

Physical requirements:

Ability to sit and stand for long periods; handle and manipulate objects on a repetitive basis. Ability to see well and distinguish between back up alarms, voices and other normal sounds consistent with construction job sites.
