The Tobago Hospitality and Tourism Institute (THTI) is seeking suitably qualified individuals to fill the positions of:
TOBAGO HOSPITALITY & TOURISM INSTITUTE
DEAN – STUDENT SERVICES
The incumbent reports to the Chief Executive Officer and shall be responsible for the administration of a broad range of student services and operations. This employee builds and maintains a close relationship with the students throughout their matriculation at the Institute.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversees the student administrative process and programmes, inclusive of admissions, registration, career guidance and general student services.
- Plans, implements, monitors, reviews and reports on the student services, programmes and projects, including the formulation and management of an appropriate budget.
- Develops, implements and manages the student services policies and procedures.
- Advises students on all educational and personal developmental matters.
- Oversees the coordination of the marketing of the Institute’s educational programmes to
facilitate student recruitment and admissions.
- Monitors student performance, analyses problem areas, determines solutions and conducts interventions where necessary.
- Identifies and resolves student concerns, coaches and devises useful strategies in order to
meet students’ educational goals.
- Develops and maintains an academic calendar for the Institute.
- Oversees the records management for students.
- Develops strong relationships with Faculty and staff that provide student support services and resources.
- Facilitates student residential accommodation.
- Works with the Financial Services on the administration of the Government Assistance for Tuition Expenses (GATE)
- Assists with the implementation of accreditation standards as outlined by the
Accreditation Council of Trinidad and Tobago (ACTT).
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge and expertise in the field of student services management.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with work colleagues, students, and industry stakeholders.
- Ability to foster and promote customer service orientation toward a diverse student body.
- Highly developed communications skills.
- Ability to solve student disciplinary issues.
- Ability to create an enhanced learning environment for students.
- Strong leadership skills.
- Strong commitment to education, with counselling and/or coaching skills
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
- Post graduate degree in education or related field from a recognised tertiary educational institution.
- At least ten (10) years’ experience at a higher educational institution.
