A gas station cashier typically works inside the store portion of a gas station. As a gas station cashier, your responsibilities include handling cash and credit card payment, cleaning customer-facing areas, and maintaining fully-stocked shelves. A gas station attendant usually sees to a gas station’s outdoor spaces. As a gas station attendant, your duties include serving as a pump operator and putting fuel in customers’ vehicles. In states that do not allow self-service at gas stations, you must pump fuel for all customers, whereas in states with legalized self-service, you only help customers who require assistance with this task.
