Getting Contaminated With Covid-19 Changed My Life Forever
I am positive many have been asking: Why Covid? Why so globally? Why now? And I've addressed a few of these questions in previous articles. But at that time I wasn't speaking from expertise, I used to be simply sharing my theories about it without having verified them in practical terms. Well, now I've verified at least a kind of theories, and I am eager to share it.
We have now all heard about connectedness and oneness, and the way Covid is (hopefully) bringing us a step closer to these experiences, seeing how we are all in this together. But then again, are we really all in this collectively? Personally, I'm not so sure about that looking at the controversies in government policies (particularly in nations the place elections are taking place through the pandemic), the push-backs from the public in opposition to restrictions (not loads of us are willingness to sacrifice our "valuable" routines for the better good), and more not too long ago - the distribution of vaccines (those that pay more get more).
So what are we missing? When and how are we lastly going to study the lesson? And what is that lesson?
Truly, Covid provides us an obvious clue each concerning the What we have to study and the How. What Covid patients expertise and in some cases die from is lack of air. And air is the very thing that connects us all. To use one of Jessica Dibb's observations, we can create an in-group and an out-group (i.e. manifest separation) based mostly on race, profession, gender, age, social traits, looks, etc. But there is one common denominator which, when applied, leads us automatically to oneness - the breath. Thus, it doesn't matter what beliefs, traumas and preferences now we have, all of us belong to the group of breathers. And the breath (which, as I've come to experience, is the embodiment of Spirit), is what connects us all and offers us the physical, somatic experience of oneness. BUT only if we pay attention to it!
Shock, surprise - Covid is bringing our attention and awareness exactly to the breath. As such, Covid is asking us to start dwelling a more spiritually oriented life: a life where we're indeed more related, a life lived within the NOW. Importantly, by bringing our focus to the breathing, Covid shouldn't be only showing us the lesson we have to study, i.e. the lesson of oneness; it is also showing us how we are able to be taught said lesion, and that's simply by staying focused on the breath and practicing conscious breathing.
Without a doubt, conscious breathing is what can provide us a direct spiritual expertise (albeit in physical our bodies). I personally learnt that by being forced (after getting infected with Covid) to pay attention to the breath. Not that I hadn't dabbled in various yoga and meditation practices before. But this time the shift in awareness was so prodiscovered! Armed with a considerably survival-driven motivation at the start of the illness, I dove deep into numerous breathing methods, and the more intimately I got to know aware breathing, the more my expertise of separation was dissolving. I was feeling so much lighter, happier and, of course, more connected. I was getting the lesson! More importantly, I was healing a illness not introduced on by Covid but merely highlighted by it.
Sadly, I think the whole planet is sick with that same disease - the illness of Separation. Hence, we now have a global pandemic. This pandemic has managed to highlight in an excellent way the pervasiveness of the pathology we all endure from, the breathlessness and lack of connectedness all through the globe. Covid is just the red light right here signaling we need to fix the engine. And it's not going away in a rush, at least not till we all grow to be conscious of the real problem and start taking the appropriate action towards resolving it. The real problem, indeed, is a prodiscovered spiritual disconnect. We, as a planet, have reached the hallmark of Separation. Therefore, Covid is screaming at us: "Use the breath, folks, and connect!"
On the face of it, I wholeheartedly encourage you to seek out some aware breathing practices and start incorporating them in your life (if you have not already). Talking about oneness would not assist you feel it. Conscious breathing, alternatively, takes us straight to the physical experience of oneness, to the embodiment of spirituality. Try it for your self and I'm certain you will by no means look back. It only takes a few conscious breaths to change your viewpoint, and a different perspective opens doors to new, exciting and limitless possibilities.
