      Industrial Relations Officer

      The Industrial Relations Officer will assist / support in the coordination of all issues related to Industrial Relations at Angostura Limited.

      SCOPE:

      The Industrial Relations Officer will assist / support in the coordination of all issues related to Industrial Relations at Angostura Limited. The incumbent will be required to report to the Industrial Relations Manager in maintaining an on the ground awareness of the Group’s industrial relations climate; he or she will support the implementation of the IR Department’s work plan in accordance with the Group’s policies, procedures, and practices as well as the relevant applicable legislation.

      DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

      ·         Supports the IR Manger on any and all IR matters as assigned including any representation / advocacy at the Ministry of Labour, Industrial Court, or meetings with external parties including the Recognized Majority Union (RMU) as assigned.

      ·         Tracks and updates the IR spread sheet of IR complaints (at all levels), disciplinary, and grievance matters, etc.

      ·         Works towards attaining the IR work plan deadlines by specific dates in conjunction with the IR Manager.

      ·         Liaises and communicates with supervisors and managers to acquire update reporting on above issues.

      • Leads and advises on the implementation of specific company initiatives / projects; support the IR department with any projects as assigned from start to finish and ensure the proper recording of any documentation and required filing of project.
      • Maintains and assists in developing good industrial relations between the Group and its employees.
      • Reviews and collates data required for the interpretation of any collective bargaining agreements as necessary and support the executions of any negotiations where required.
      • Provides IR advisory support as and when required to assist with the mitigation of any oncoming issues through communication and dialogue.
      • Keeps abreast of legislation, case law and practice (including Health and Safety Legislation) and conducts research as determined and assigned on all IR legal matters.
      • Liaises with other relevant persons (as required) outside the IR department for example the legal department, the RMU, any IR consultant and training institutions.
      • Maintains records of meetings and procedures for follow up and feedback on action plans.
      • Records minutes of non-crisis, disciplinary and negotiation meetings / procedures.
      • Conducts disciplinary hearings as assigned expeditiously and ensures that grievance handling is in accordance and aligned with the Group’s policies and respective bargaining agreements.
      • Ensures timely transfer of documents to HR for employee files, as well as the IR archives.
      • Performs any OSH assessments as required specifically for monthly reporting of same.
      • Supervises and heads the activities, duties, and responsibilities of any IR trainees, temporary staff and other personnel as determined by the IR Manager.
      • Any other related duties to ensure IR processes and procedures are adhered to.



      QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

      • Bachelor’s Degree in Management, Human Resources, Law, or any other related field.
      • Industrial Relations Certification as evidenced by a Certificate / Diploma in IR/ Labour Studies.
      • 3 – 5 years’ experience in the same or a similar role.
      • An equivalent combination of both experience and qualifications will be considered in lieu of minimum qualifications.

      KEY COMPETENCIES:

      • Related training in the disciplinary process including how to conduct a disciplinary hearing and grievance handling.
      • Strong relationship management skills.
      • Ability to work and function with limited oversight and within a multifunctional team environment.
      • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
      • Competent in MS Office suite – Word, Excel & PowerPoint, etc.
      • Competent in SAP application and a working knowledge of same.
      • Ability to multitask and possesses strong time management skills.
      • Strategic thinking.
      • Highly confidential.
      • Action oriented individual with a solid track record.

      MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB:

      The Manager — Trade Marketing will be responsible for leading/managing the local Trade team and setting the trade marketing strategy across the company’s portfolio of brands in consultation with the respective Marketing Manager and the Manager – Sales. The function focuses on the planning, strategizing, and implementation of all activities to achieve all local sales budgets, whilst ensuring compliance with the laws of Trinidad and Tobago as it relates to the trading of alcoholic products.

      DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

      • Provide strategic leadership and management of the Trade Marketing department and activities in alignment with the vision and goals set by company.
      • Develop strategic plans for improvements of the Trade marketing department.
      • Maintain brand guidelines and adhere to processes.
      • Achievement of Company’s planned volumes (Total & Key segments).
      • Lead and ensure delivery of best in class trade marketing initiatives and ensuring high quality, cost competitive branded/promotional POS material is delivered, at/within allocated budgets.
      • Manage point of sale [value adds from conception to execution and evaluation, ensuring on brand with consistent brand messaging.
      • Continue to monitor competitor activity.
      • Management of selling expenses, at/within budget.
      • Management of trade pricing in line with company/brand objectives, and the competitive environment Maintenance of strong personal presence in the trade especially at key outlets and trading partners.
      • Workshop ideas with Safes team to build and deliver an annual calendar of planned support and items.
      • Ensuring compliance with the policies of Angostura as well as the laws of Trinidad and Tobago as it applies to the trading of alcoholic beverages.
      • Leading activation programs with partners to significantly improve in-store and market visibility for all brands leading to higher market share.
      • Leading and implementing channel specific marketing strategies and plans for retailers and manage the Trade Marketing budget.
      • Developing and executing the Trade Marketing Plans, setting and tracking brand sales targets in line with sales and marketing objectives.
      • Improving brand presence and campaign execution across trade through excellence in in-store planning, execution and tracking in alignment with the annual marketing priorities.
      • Conceptualizing and executing trade promotions, local cross promotions / collabs, and rolling out impactful in-store campaigns in collaboration with brand marketing and sales teams.
      • Visiting the points of sales regularly to ensure PL brand visibility and setting and maintaining VM / display guidelines.
      • Being the eyes and ears for business by capturing competition activities, need gaps, expectations and requirements of retail partners and end consumers.
      • Gathering and understanding Consumer and Channel/Customer insights through research. Use data gathered through research/analysis to develop category 4Ps strategy for Customer implementation.
      • Helps develop national and/or local account-specific promotional programs/key events.



      QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

      • First Degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or related field.
      • At least five (5) years’ experience in FMCG industry.
      • A suitable combination of experience and education.

      REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/ SKILLS/ ABILITIES:

      • Previous leadership and/or supervisory experience.
      • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and excellent stakeholder management skills.
      • Success driven, results oriented.
      • Excellent relationships with key trading partners.
      • Highly effective negotiator.
      • Strong people skills and ability to work as part of a team.
      • Ability to meet deadlines and demonstrate a sense of urgency, capable of working under pressure Highly knowledgeable and experienced in Trade related issues (eg. Logistics, Trade Profitability, etc.).
      • Ability to liaise with and present concepts to management and external agencies.
      • Self-motivated, with a “can do” attitude.
      • Good planning and monitoring skills.
      • Strong computer skills.
